When Burke said that he didn't know what she was talking about, Sylvanna knew already that he knew what she was talking about. But she wasn't going to pry. She raised her hands and nodded before standing up. "Must have heard wrong then. I'll make sure whoever it was that were talking about it wil have their due punishments." she said as she made her way around the room once more. She didn't know if she ought to piss the man off or keep her distance... for now. They were in this for life or until they die. Sylvanna had time.
she chuckled when he said that he didn't hate children. "My apologies for assuming that you did. I can tell that you would make sure you little snakeling will be disciplined and be as what they should become when they leave the castle. I have no doubt since you reputation is as good as I have heard. Of course minus a few things here and there." Sylvanna was starting to be bored once more. She could be only be entertained to a point.
Burke's answer made her smirked darkly. He had no qualms with killing weres then. This ought to be a fun time then in the future. So Burke didn't consider himself a beast. Hmmm... A thought to ponder. "Indeed... from ashes, a new regime with arise and rule with and iron fist."
Looking how she got up, he kept his eyes pierced on her until she spoke again. Knowing that it was no use for him to start a discussion, he kept himself as quiet as possible. “Do whatever you wish to do.” He mumbled as he took some new ingredients and began to chop them. It surprised him how she didn’t push for her answers like he had expected. Sighing he looked over the ingredients and added the exact amount to the potion that he knew was perfect. The presence of Ms. Beauclaire made him feel a little bit awkward. It felt like she was watching him or anything even when it wasn’t the case. Maybe it was just the fact that he wasn’t really used to be among other people any more. Or just the fact that she knew and he didn’t know what she thought of him now. Not that he cared or anything, as long as their missions would go fine, he had nothing to complain.
Not knowing what to think of this woman or what to expect of her, he remained neutral through all his answers. The only person who he talked about everything with was his best and only friend Davion. There were no other people he could trust with even the slightest bit of information. The presence of the other person didn’t bugged him any more and she had become more of a piece of talking furniture. This was quite lame but maybe he was fine with it. After he stirred around for a few times he looked up. Nodding to her words, he didn’t really know what to say to it. Benjamin wasn’t a very talkative person unless he was asked to speak, someone pissed him off or if he had to scold someone.
Seeing the smile on her face, he knew what she was thinking. Yet he closed his eyes and turned himself around. Thinking that if it wasn’t for Donovan, Alex would be death for a while now. The dog never stopped after that night, for some reason he saw it as his job to make Ben’s life a living hell. “Can I get you something do drink?” He suddenly offered politely. “There is a lovely red wine from 1966 in my stock but I also have fire whiskey if you want.” He meant nothing with this at all. It was just that he had to keep an eye on his potions before, or else he would have offered her something a while ago. It is how his parents had raised him, treat your guests well, even when you don’t appreciate their company. Anyway, Ben knew that he could use a drink if he wanted to survive this conversation before snapping.

When burke said that she culd do whatever she wanted, with or without his permission, she would have done it anyway. Not that she would punish the elves. But would probably ask them to keep watch over Burke more often than not. She merely sent him her usual smile that ackowledge whatever others tell her. Not that it would mean anything that is.
Sylvanna found other seat in another part of the lab and sat down to watch him again. It was fascinating to watch potion masters move about their cauldrons. She could never understand it really but it was amusing. How they were always so careful and very concetrated on their tasks at hand. She watched with a careful eye as Burke began to bhop up new ingredients which she began to think that most potions she had taken in before had, more or less, the same icky ingredients as well. She shuddered for a bit but kept it down.
Then he offered her a drink. She shook her head, "I'm fine thank you. Watching you move about is amusing enough. I'll never understand how hard it is to be a potions master but its fascinating. Tell me... why that profession? Surely a brilliant man as yourself would have gone for other branches of magic... Why potions?" she asked, not really caring that it seems like she was prying into his life.
The potions were going to be fine for a while now. So Ben had some time to get the fire whiskey. Hearing his guest say that she didn’t want anything, he sighed a little. “Come on, don’t let me be the only one drinking. Well if you change your mind it is on the table here.” He said as he poured himself a rather large glass and put the bottle with an empty glass on a table somewhat in the back of the room. Sitting in his favourite black leather chair, he left his potions to cool down. They all took longer than just one day most weeks so tomorrow he would be needing to continue.
“Why this profession, you ask. Well it was one of the few open spots actually. The former dark lord wanted me on it before he...” swallowing a little, he still regretted their loss. “He was about to tell me what he needed me for but never got the chance. I guess I just remained doing as he wanted me to.” He shrugged and drank a little. Despite that he was kicked out of the former inner circle he had always remained loyal. He didn’t even blame his lord for kicking him out, he would probably have done the same himself. Now the son had him back in and Benjamin just knew that he was forced to be loyal to the child even though he wasn’t that sure of his leadership qualities yet.
Drinking some more it seemed that now he didn’t have to be focussed on the potions he was a little more laid back. With his drink he almost could relax. “So yeah, I used to own my family shop apart from the several jobs I took. I believe I ever have worked for the ministry before well.. I don’t remember much from my time before Azkaban, I’m afraid. Well I guess that says that I once was a very happy man.” The idea was good even though the dementors erased all his happy memories. Due to the bits that he was missing, he could tell a little what kind of person he had been. “It was strange every day I woke up at the screaming of the mudbloods, traitors and muggles I killed and woke up with at the crying of their loved ones. I can remember each single face. Most of the time the families ended up dead as well.”
Closing his eyes for a moment he had not realized that he had been this worn out. Perhaps it just was because he had been going nonstop with just a little bit of sleep each night. “So what about you? What triggered you to become a teacher?” He mumbled when opening his eyes again.

Sylvanna chuckled as Burke offered her a drink once more out of manners. A glass was placed on the table just in case she changed her mind. She just might in a little while. Who knows. When Burke sat down, she knew that he was letting his potions cool down now. Just because she wasn't a potioneer, didn't mean she didn't know anything. Then Burke explained why he took up Potions. But when he mentioned the dormer Dark Lord, Sylvanna had to shift in her own sit. It was still a touchy subject for her as well. They lost a lot when the Dark Lord had been defeated by a child! But they were trying to regroup now and their Lord's son had took up the post to lead the. What the boy could do was yet to be proven but Sylvanna was going to be there to help as much as she can. In order to attain her Lord's goals.
As he then explained further about the several jobs he took and the fact that he used to own a shop, it made it fascinating. "Yes, Borgin and Burke's. Though from what I know, it rarely has much customers now. Though I myself have bought a few things there... the shop never seems to have anything... new." she said with a hint of disappointment on her lips.
"Trying to forget their screams had been something I struggled with before. But after a while, one numbs from all of it. I usually just think that its better they perish than suffer when they don't agree with the change." she shared without any regrets. After losing her family, she could barely care if the world lose theirs. Sylvanna finally moved to pour herslef a drink and went back to sitting down. then he asked HER why she became a teacher.
She took a sip of the whiskey, feeling th hot burning sensation make its way down her throat. "Truthfully? It was the Dark Lord's wish. I was set to accept a job at the Ministry... that was before my family got murdered and I... killed the bastard who did. The Dark Lord... he was there. I don't know why but he was there. he saw me.. killing that bastard who took away my family. And so, after a while, he suggested that I took up teaching instead. He knew I Mastered Ancient Runes and since I was healing, teaching was the better option for me then." she said.
Benjamin growled a little at the comment about his former store. It seems that nothing exited happened there ever since he left. “Such a shame, I’ve been there once since my return. It still looked the same as from when I left it. Wendelin, one of my trainees is currently one of the managers. Though I won’t interfare, it is Mr. Borgin’s shop now. There is no way I am returning. It reminds me of times I try to forget about because they won’t return anyway.” As he talked about the shop he once owned, the state it was in now and the memories that he held in that place his voice almost betrayed a shade of sadness. He didn’t like how everything had turned out but it seemed like he had to make the best out of it. Looking at the liquid in his glass, he brought it to his lips and emptied it in one turn.
Swallowing a little as Beauclaire explained that it all was for the best. “You’re right, once things turn out the way they should be. There will be mass executions, which will only cause more pain. My mother always told me that muggles and mudbloods were demons in human shape trying to steal your magic and soul. When I was about six I still believed it and got nightmares about it.” He grinned a little at his old self stupidity. When Ben was young he used to be such an innocent, talented, perfect and hard working child. Now all that was left was this mess. “I still remember the first time I killed someone. After that I was scared how easy it was. Just a few words and you’ve faded someone’s light.” He wasn’t sure if he was talking to her or to himself. That happened quite often really, mainly he did it to try to remember as much as possible.
His eyes shifted up to the woman as she decided to pour herself something after all. Standing up to refill his glass, he figured that he would limit himself. Mainly because he was quite small and just could not handle as much as others. When she explained how she got in, he nodded. “It seems that we all have gotten in the same way after then. What about Redferne? What is his story?” Honestly, Benjamin didn't know much about his fellow Death Eaters. The main reason for this was simply that he didn't care. As long as they did their job, he would be fine. He had no interest in befriending one or another. However it seemed that he quite appreciated Beauclaire her presence now that he didn't have to pay attention to the potions any more. The alcohol also helped him relax.

Sylvanna couldn't help but chuckle a little when he growled at the mention of his old store. She would feel nearly the same if it belonged to her and found out that it was nowhere as great or even improved when she'd left it. "Oh yes... your trainees... How are you handling them? From what I noticed, both of them are bound to cause you more pain than necessary. Specially that Wendelin character. I would have whipped them to their bones if it were me." she said with a sighed. Oh how she missed training trainees. Their former Lord made her train them and they still were all alive and functioning well.
Then he agreed with her and she nodded. She then listened and couldn't help but nod in agreement. "Muggles... fear what they can't control and what they don't understand. They're way of life involves bloodshed with or without the knowledge that magic exists. They kill their own kind because of difference in color, beliefs, and opinions. They are nothing but waste of space and the sooner their gone, the better." she told Burke. She wanted every last muggle on the planet broken and dead.
"Think about it this way, if they died under you hands, what makes you think they'd survive for long? If they can't defend themselves then there is no point of keeping them alive. If they have no use, wh not banish them? It will all come down to the basic and most primitive rule of the earth: survival of the fittest. The strong shall live and the weak shall die. There is nothing else but that." Sylvanna explained. She lived by this rule and she was still breathing.
Then Burke asked about Redferne. Sylvanna chuckled. "Oh that one is amusing in more ways than one. Most Redfernes are from the Light side. However, it seemed that behind close doors, Cain Redferne's family was not as 'Light' as they show. From the old circle, everyone knew James Redferne was a stern and hard man. He pushed his children to the brink of insanity. I'm surprised that Cain Redferne is breathing and sane as he seems. Cain Redferne is second of six siblings. As far as I could gather, he has an older brother, three younger brothers and one younger sister. The mother died a long while back. And rumor has it that Cain Redferne was shove into a cell with a blood craze vampire to defend himself at the age of seven or eight. Not too sure about that." she told Burke with an amused smile on her face.
“My trainees? Oh I actually am surprised that I was allowed to keep them after all. I’ve got three of them now. Davenport is such a good boy. Wendelin apparently thinks he is all dark and I just don’t get him. Then there is Halsey... He is just... a brat actually. Immature and doesn’t think of his actions. I think I’ll pay him a personal visit some time to make him realize.” He started and ran a hand through his hair. Those boys were getting him grey hairs sooner or later for sure. He even turned up for the mistakes they made. Not that Benjamin fought back, he had taken it like a man. “The young lord has requested me to go more harsh on them. It seems that I’ve been treating them too much like students, which they aren’t any more.”
Sipping a little more of his whiskey, Benjamin listened to Beauclaire’s reasons they seemed pretty accurate. “You are right, this should not bother me that much.” After all he had killed the woman he loved and her entire family. It had been his ultimate test to loyalty which he succeeded. There weren’t even tears shed that night. She was a muggleborn after all, she was just as cruel as the rest. Well only the former dark lord knew about this, but he had been quite pleased when Benjamin brought her dead body. “The only thing that still bugs me, we try to wipe out those who hate, because we hate them. Does that make us the evil people in this world?” Again it seemed to be better if he just never drank at all, he started talking bullshit and he only had one drink.
Ben almost chocked in his drink as he heard the words. “A Vampire?” He repeated them as he coughed. “What kind of crazed man would leave his children to such a vile creature? At least punish your children yourself then. I guess.” His old man always did the punishes himself. When he was young he had cried often but it had helped him getting stronger. Until his father didn’t have to punish him any more and actually was surprised how well his son was doing in class and such things. Ben was actually surprised that Redferne still seemed like a pretty decent person after all he had been through. Now that he knew this, he actually respected his fellow Professor while he usually would not have bat an eye. “What amuses me, is that you really seem to enjoy this; getting to know stuff about your co-workers.” He said as he looked at her. Never got he interested about others. Mostly because Benjamin easily grew to care for someone once he knew a person. That mistake got him locked up in Azkaban.

Sylvanna raised a brow. there were three? She tried to recall if she could remember the one Burke mentioned: Davenport. "I don't recall a Davenport. Did he participate at the task that the trainees were told to do?" she asked. "Wendelin will mellow down when he gets his lashing. I'd have done it to put him in his place. He has yet to earn his keep and he thinks is all dark and mighty. And the same would go for the brat Halsey. Back in school, that child was a headache if I ever saw one." she groaned as she recalled the years she had thought the boy. She was glad that she didn't have to babysit them herself or she would have whipped them to the bones. she turned to Burke and nodded. "I stopped trating them as students the moment they graduated." she smirked.
She was glad that Burke had agreed and saw her point. But in truth, his next question caught her a bit off guard. Then the answer came almost instantly, "To me, it matters next to nothing how they would see me. As long as the world and our kind exist for many years to come, I'd happily play the evil step mother of the world if needed be. The Light will no doubt be the end to our kind if kept alive. They think we'd live in peace with the muggles? Of course not. It's like asking the Boy-Who-Lived to propose to Donovan and live happily ever after. It's not going to happen." she told Burke. Sylvanna was going to make sure, no matter what, the muggles will end.
The chock made her chuckle and she nodded. "Yes, a a blood crazed vampire. Like I said, I'm surprised that Cain came out alive and sane. However, I cannot say the same thing to his emotional health. From what I can tell, he and his brother Liam, are already planning to kill their father before their younger siblings are pushed to experience what they had gone through. I KNOW Liam, Cain, and Connor Redferne had been pushed and pulled in all directions. The younger ones are kept safe... for now. So I won't be surprised that one day, the paper will announce the death of one James Redferne due to unknown causes." she shared.
Sylvanna smiled widely at Burke, "Well, its amusing me. And I'm best behave when occupied. The last time I was bored, I actually taunted Bella and got into a duel with her. If not for... the former Lord, either Bella had lost an arm or her leg. She did manage to tear my clothing which annoyed me since my robes then were new." Sylvanna said as she hid her pout behind her glass and swallowed her drink.
“No only Wendelin and Halsey were signed up. I guess he will get his chance to prove himself sooner or later. I have more faith in Davenport, he is quite intelligent.” He explained. Of course he knew that the others would have gone a little bit harsher on the trainees. Perhaps it would be good if he let the two know that he would punish them and put them in their place. The only thing was still; Benjamin didn’t like using curses on his fellow Death Eaters. Still it would be for the best for everyone in the end. Useless members shouldn’t be there. “So it seems, people like them manage to get the worst out of me. Until now I’ve remained calm and I went easy on them, because I didn’t want to look like some army general.” Shaking his head, he knew that it was either play the kind guy or get people to listen to you. Such a shame though, violence wasn’t necessary if people weren’t complete knuckleheads.
Benjamin looked up with admiration to the elder woman. She seemed to have a pretty good image about what this world really was like. Perhaps it had been really rude to treat her like he did before. However that was mainly because he is very tense and careful around people. “I don’t see how they are called the light. They will bring a destruction upon our race. They adore muggles and they don’t see how much hate and pain those people do to this world and their own kind. I want the boy dead. Donovan should kill him with honour, even when I don’t want to admit it; he fought well.” He hissed, getting pretty pissed about the fact that they were always getting set backs.
“If the war is over and we’ve won and I know my baby girl is save and happy, I should die. There is no place for me in the perfect world I dream about.” He spoke in a low volume, warning himself for what he was about to face. If they lost, he would probably receive the dementor’s kiss and may they win he didn’t fit in the world that he wanted to create. Because after the muggles, he wanted to free the world from all the dark creatures.
“Revenge is never the answer. Though I’d say that it is quite understandable that they want to protect their younger siblings. I won’t stop him, it is his own business and I don’t have the right to interfere with their family issues.” This was his conclusion and he would stick with it. Unless he was asked for help, things weren’t his thing to deal with. The only reason why Alex was still alive was because Benjamin didn’t want to lower himself to that level. He wasn’t going to let the beast win and give in. That all was a selfish act no Redferne fought for his young siblings he cared for. That was being human, fighting for the sake of another.
Grinning a little bit at the woman when she told him her reasons, he thought they were quite understandable. “I guess I should buy you some toys then the next time you pay me a visit. People often tell me that I am a boring person, I’m afraid I can’t keep you occupied for too long.”
