Alex lunged when Josh jumped, grabbing his son from the leap he had just taken. He landed immediately, before he rounded on Josh, "What the hell was that? For someone who gets credit for being so smart, that a very stupid move Josh. What if I hadn't caught you? You'd have broken your neck, is what." Alex narrowed his eyes at his eldest, he couldn't even describe the amount of fear that had been pushed into his veins when he saw Josh's broom leave his hands. "I...Merlin.. I think that's enough for today." Alex was trying to keep his temper under control, but all he saw was his 8 year old attempt a nosedive to the ground from 20 feet in the air only to jump from 15 feet. It was more than enough to get Alex's heart racing.
He grabbed Josh's broom, not letting him carry it back this time. He shrunk the item before he pocketed it along with his own broom. Looking down at Josh again, thankful for the charms that were placed on the broom, but he'd have to talk to Casey about placing another one there. "How's a trip in town sound for dinner?" Alex said trying to calm down.

Josh laughed before smiling and hugging his dad to comfort the man. "I did it because I KNEW you would catch me. Every part of me knew that you would catch me. That was why I was confident when I jumped. Your my dad and I know you wouldn't let me get hurt." he said as he smiled at his dad. He loved his dad even if he didn't say it. His papa had told him that he ought to say it once in a while because sometimes, saying it out loud meant more. "Dad, thanks for today. I had fun with you. I hope we'd do it again. This bonding thing with just you and me." Josh said as he hugged his dad once more before collecting himself and turning around.
Then his dad suggested dinner in town. Josh turned and nodded with a smile. "Sounds great dad... Your the best dad." Josh told his dad before he started walking. "And I love you for it, even if I don't say it often." he whispered, knowing well that his dad would hear it.

Alex's shoulder slummed after Josh explained himself, how he even say that he wouldn't be around to catch him? Opening his mouth because it still wasn't a good idea, but he didn't want to flaw Josh's way of thinking, so he pursed his lips, and moved his arms around his eldest instead. "Just warn me next time okay? You scared the hell out of me Josh, you really could have gotten hurt." Alex finally settled with letting it slide but being cautious, he would just be wary when Josh was on his broom in the future. "You promise you'll never try that without me around okay?" Alex was not one to spank his kids, ever. But he was not above moving every book out of reach until he got his point across.
"I..I love you too buddy." Alex ruffled Josh's hair again, kissing the top of his head. Most this day really got to Alex, getting to really bond with his eldest was something he wasn't sure he would be able to do. But he had taken an interest in the brooms, maybe they could come out here as a family someday. "What do you say about all of us coming, Papa and Chels, and we try to play a small game?" Alex would slowly introduce sports if he could with Josh, if Josh was a kid who liked to read and play outside, Alex would be a proud dad.

Josh understood why his dad was worried. True that what he did could have gotten him seriously hurt but he knew that he'd never do it without his dad being there. "I know dad. And I'm sorry for scaring you. I promise not to do it when your not around. I wouldn't even do it if you weren't around. Who would catch me then?" he told his dad and chuckled a bit.
Most of the time, Josh would have protested if his dad and papa would mess his hair but just this once, he'd let it slide too. He chuckled and secretly reveled in the attention his dad was giving him. Because this was just for him. All for Joshua Michael Andrews.
He then nodded. "We could them pair up. Me and papa against you and Chelsey. You'd be able to watch Chelsey better and then I'll beat you." Josh told his dad confidently and smirked the smirk his papa would often find himself rubbing his head when Josh showed it. It was his daddy's smirk.

Pleased by Josh's agreement in not attempting to do anything when he wasn't around, he decided that it was dinner time, he figured now though, instead of town, maybe they could just go to the hotdog stand in park. "Okay, buddy, why don't we just get a hotdog up there h uh? Chips and pop, don't tell your Papa that though." Alex took parenting seriously, but Casey was the cook most of the time and insisted that everyone ate correctly all the time. Pop for dinner wasn't something that was allowed, most of the time.
"Oooooooh ohh? Really now? Well, we'll have to see this happening then. 1 day on the broom and you already got me beat." Alex laughed, picked Josh up, and setting his eldest on his shoulders behind his head. He used to this more when Josh was younger, but they were never in an opening where Alex could lift his son up to where he wouldn't hit his head on the ceiling. "Papa and Chelsey have about the same talent on a broom by the way, Buddy." Alex joked, he would have teased more if Casey was actually around.

Josh nodded. He liked his dad's idea. No offense to his papa, but he'd like something else that wasn't... a full meal once in a while. "I won't tell Papa... as long as we get to do it twice a month." Josh bargained, knowing his dad would bargain back. He smirked at his dad at the same time.
Then he laughed when his dad picked him up and placed him on his shoulders. "Wow! Is this what papa sees everyday? Its so high up!" Josh said as he looked around. His papa was taller than his dad and this was something. Then he held this dad's head. "Of course, I'm your son. You have skills in Quidditch, Uncle Jason has them too. So naturally I would as well." Josh said confidently before laughing. "You better not say that to Papa. He'd kick your butt, dad." Josh told his dad and laughed.

Laughing, Alex nodded, "I've been cheating on your Papa's diet for months Bud, I just have someone to do it with me now." Difference was though, Alex was an adult, he wasn't growing anymore, so it was different. The older man did understand that, but one day missed won't stunt Josh's growth any. Laughing again when Josh brought him Casey's height, he was pretty Josh was going to be pretty tall too, since Alex was tall. Casey was just taller.
Once they got to the stand, Alex order two combo's, and he moved the hotdog up to Josh, "If you drop any food in my hair kid, I'll be tossing you in the lake." Alex paid the stand and walked away, giving a small jump to scare his son just enough that it was unexpected. Snorting, "Even Papa isn't tall enough to get me if I get on the broom, so he can try Buddy, he can try." Alex let himself bask in the attention he was having his with eldest, it was amazing.

Josh cheered as he got his win. He loved the meals his papa's cooking. He seriously did. But eating it all the time was just... He mentally sighed.
Then they got their food and Josh yelped when his dad jumped. "I'll be getting food in your hair if you jump again dad." Josh informed his dad and rolled his eyes before taking a bit. Flying made him hungry.
"Don't underestimate him dad. Papa can be sneaky when he wants to be. I should know." Josh said as he shuddered at the memory of his papa getting the better of him at his own game. Josh swore to never challenge his papa again.

Snorting, Alex was more than aware of how sneaky his mate could be. There was just some things even Alex wouldn't challenge his mate in. "Your Papa is the only man who has been shaking in my boots sometimes Buddy, I know how sneaky he can get." Alex wasn't going to go into detail, but Alex did understand. After all, Alex couldn't afford to choose a weak mate after the accident in which he was turned.
"Shush you and eat your food, I think we still have ice cream in the cooler at home." If Alex pouted, really it couldn't be held against him.

Josh knew of course. He had overheard a few things when his Uncle Jason would come over and talk to his dad. There had been times when his dad would tell Jason that his papa had gotten one up on him. He knew what it meant but up on what? Josh snickered, "Well, papa is a Ravenclaw. It comes with the territory." Josh said proudly.
He chuckled ad cheered again. "Yey! Ice cream! Best day ever woot!" Josh was very happy how his day had gone.
