Alex had owled Maria, asking her to meet him here, after he had made the reservations. He had talked to Casey about him meeting with people, even though he didn't specific with whom he was meeting with, he was pretty happy that Casey was trusting him to do this. Going out and finding creatures who believed that they should get more power than the average wizard because they were capable of more than just magical spells and potions.
Sitting down at the table along, he cast a tempus charm, relaxing into the chair. He wondered if he should owl Casey really quick, just to tell him where he was, but then he thought more about it, that maybe he should just let things be. Should he check in after everything or should he just take advantage that Casey trusts him to go out and come home in an appropriate manor? Taking a sip of wine that was sitting at the table, he knew he'd have to bring Casey here some time, he looked up to the couples who were dancing by the stage in the room, he grinned thinking about how his taller mate wouldn't be leading, how awkward was it going to look?
Next meeting, he'd bring Casey with him, it was only fair, Casey was just as much apart of this as he was. They were a team, so when someone finally did sit down in the chair across from him, he wished he had brought Casey with him. The women who sat across from him was beautiful, he almost wished he had pulled out her chair for her. "Alex, Alex Andrews, you must be Maria." Alex said with a smile and held out his hand to the women across the table.

Maria had been a bit surprised when Narcissa had given her a letter from one Alex Andrews. It was surprising since she barely knew the man. But she knew what he was. It made her wonder just what a werewolf could want with a vampire. Maria thought best not to ask why and just wait until she saw the man. She dressed well, not too fancy yet not too informal as well. She had bid Narcissa and Draco a good bye for the time being and left the manor.
When she arrived, she trusted her sense of smell and it led her directly to where Alex Andrews was and sat across him. "Pleasure, Mr. Andrews." she said as she shook his hand. Maria then crossed her legs and leaned back on her seat. "So... What did I do to earn an owl from you, Mr. Andrews. I'm sure it had to be something rather than to meet and greet." she began, skipping pleasantries altogether.

Alex grinned, because it was true this was not a just an ordinary visit. He looked at her for a moment, checking out her appearance to judge what he could from just seeing her. "No, but it I was hoping we could talk a little first. You've been around long enough to know that we can't just trust anyone." He wasn't sure if she could have wine, but he poured her a glass anyway, if nothing left she would at least casual to the rest of the restaurant. "So, how is it being in your situation. Is it treating you fairly?"
Asking this, he coded about her being a vampire. If she had peace with her life, than she wouldn't help his cause, and he knew that. Alex was not going to convince her to fight, those are the people who become disloyal in the end. He waited on the waiter to come back and take their order, he had already convinced himself on getting a dessert for the family to enjoy, and another for him and Casey. "Do you have a mate Maria?" It would be easier to recruit her if she had something worth fighting for.

When Alex Andrews began to speak, she knew that he knew what she was. Or they wouldn't be talking to each other in the first place. She smirked and leaned back. "Alright, talking it is then. Yes, I have been around for quite a while now. You on the other hand had just began your run. Still quite young ad from your scent, I can already tell you have a mate and children. Congratulations." she told him and smiled politely. Maria took pride in her sharp senses and they haven't failed her yet.
When the waiter came, Maria ordered a glass of any red wine as long as it was a hundred years old and above. She then turned to Alex as she narrowed her eyes. "No, I do not have a mate, Mr. Andrews. I have not stepped foot out of my current residence for nearly two decades and since I arrived here i England. This would officially be my first time coming out and seeing what London has to offer. Why do you ask?" she answered him and asked back. She was thinking up of possible reasons why he had called her out but she was sure it had nothing to do with her having a mate.

Raising an eyebrow, Alex was amused with the way the vampire went around his entire question. "You have been in hiding than? That's no way to live life, specifically if you are going to be around for so long. What is the point of wasted time?" Alex himself knew how little the ministry regarded vampires, so hiding really did make sense in this day and age still there was little acceptance. "I do have a mate, he's..well, he'd be better here than I would I think. He's much more into the liberal parts of these meetings than I am." Alex said with a smile, it was small talk, but it was comfortable.
Tapping his fingers on the table, "I meant no offense, difference between us ma'am, is I can't sense if you have one by smell. I can sense other smells about you, and I can tell that person apart from other smells, but what that person is to you is a mystery to my own nose." The small smile never left Alex's face, he wanted to keep this meeting easy going, "I think I misjudged you, you are and aren't what I was looking for, I'd be happy to pay for your wine though, if you are able to eat, the meal is on me as well."
Hearing what she did say, Alex used the same methods Casey used on him, it was a hidden challenge. Casey knows that Alex can't resit it, so Alex took what he knew about that and used it now. Being around for so long, Alex assumed Maria is not used to being denied in knowledge and being around for so long, Alex also assumed she would not appreciate his doubts that were voiced. He was careful though not to lie to her, he knew the heart rates changed. He didn't know that though before Casey, sometimes having a brainy boyfriend paid off.

When the man used the word 'hiding' Maria couldn't help but snarl a bit. "I'm not hiding!" she hissed for a second before gathering herself to apologize. "My apologies. I didn't mean to sound the way I did... I am not hiding, Mr. Andrews. When I came to England, I spoke little English as it was. I found shelter and a home with a couple who had taken me in. As sign of my gratitude, I vowed to protect their son who I helped raised. He is like my own but not really. I never went out because I didn't see a point since my young charge was always in danger of enemies because of who his father was. So as he stayed, I stayed." Maria explained and sighed.
The mate sounded like a well grounded man."You are proud of him. That is very envious. I wish I had the same but it seems that not everyone can have someone to share their soul to. I only have the family that protected me and no one else." Maria said with small sad smile. She already lost her real family and the Malfoy's had been everything to her.
"No need to apologize. To each their own advantages. You have skills that I do not while I have skills you do not have as well. Its as simple as that." she commented and the wine came. She took a small sip and listened as Andrews spoke once more. She could hear the silent challenge he had issued. Maria had never met anyone that withheld information from her before. But Maria was glad that she didn't have a beating heart or a pulse. If she was human, she'd be so obvious that she was ticked. "Misjudged? Then just what did you have in mind then, Mr. Andrews? I am curious as to why you would owl me out of the blue when we know little to nothing about each other aside from the common denominator that we aren't... human." she remarked, being careful with every word she used.

Alex was impressed to hear that she was fluent in another language even if he shouldn't be, he nodded, "So what do you speak naturally? And this family you live with, you are loyal to them? So they give you shelter and you give them free protection?" Alex wondered if battering the vampire was a good idea or not, but he risked it since it seemed to get her more interested in his points of view or at least their conversation. "So, I'm a wolf and you're a vampire guard dog." Alex wondered why he never saw this women around, if she was loyal with the Malfoy's, why was she never around? Was she hiding them? Was she loyal to them? Their secret keeper than?
Alex pocketed that information for later, but he moved to the topic as she complimented Casey, he shared a smile with her, he was proud of his mate. "I'm proud enough to question what he's doing with me." Alex joked lightly.
"That's just it, we so much in common I was hoping you'd want the same as I did, but you've made it quiet clear you do not have the means or the want to go forth in what is needed. Which is fine, we did used to be human at one point." Alex spoke the words human in distaste enough to make his words clearer to the vampire, "It's just a shame how we were just fine as a human, than we're less than nothing once we changed. Who's ever heard of a guard dog as a vampire?" Alex was going to let that stir with the women, as he stood up and dropped coins on the table. "Have a good night ma'am." Alex said with a smile.

"German. I'm originally of German descent." she answered as she took another sip. "Loyal... loyalty is heavy topic. I protect them because its my way of showing my appreciation." she explained but she hissed once more when he called her a guard dog. "And you are not? I may not make so much appearance but I know you are Donovan's personal guard dog. I keep to the shadows as ordered. Nothing more nothing less." she said as irritation laced her words. Her?! A guard dog?! Never!
Maria wondered what kind of mate Andrews had. She was sure he was male since the man before her kept saying 'he' instead of 'she' but she didn't judge. To each their own choice.
"Humanity for me seemed like forever. And never insinuate that I like how my life turned out to be. I... we are better than humans but we have little room to move. We are living in lands that are ruled by humans. Even Germany and France who have villages for creatures.. but still, the place is monitored by humans still. There is just too many of them. What can we do?" she demanded as Andrews stood up. Maria didn't want to remain as if she was lower than humans but what could she do?

"I'm being paid for my work, I have a job with him. It's not quite the same thing. You do it because you want them to appreciate you, I do it because I want the money." Alex let out a breath, "I'm not trying to offend you, my only question was if you liked the life you were living, and you went and answered my question in a round about way, I'm sorry for my choice of words." He looked at this women, and wondered what it was like to be a vampire living amoung humans. Alex lived with his kids, but he didn't hunger for their blood. Was it easy? Was it hard?
What do you do? You fight. "You fight. What chance does a human have against you? A human is no more ruled by it's pets than we should be ruled by them, we are stronger and just as smart, some smarter and we are just standing there praying for peace." Alex tilted his head, he refused to believe he was the first person to think this, but he was not going to be the only one fighting.

Maria knew Andrews was right. She slouched back on her seat as dignified as she could. "How do I ask the family to pay for protection when all this time, it comes off like I am part of their family. Though they have not treated me less than what I deserve... Lu-- the Head of the House did ask for a few favors that did not have anything to do with the family but how am I to ask? Should I even ask?" she inquired as she looked up at the man, hoping he would be able to answer her.
Fight? She looked down on her lap. "There are too many of them and so few of us. Most even hide or blend in. Denying what they are just to continue existing." she informed him.
