Just Overprotective :Casey:

Still unsure, Alex turned to Casey, he didn't want anything to happen to his kids. He didn't know this guy, but Casey did, forcing himself to nod. Alex knew he wouldn't be okay with this, especially since he didn't know who it was. "I..okay. I wanna meet this guy though. I trust you..but it'll make me feel better." He didn't want to agree to this, but he trusted his mate. Letting out a breath as if this was the hardest choice he could make. He moved his plate to the coffee table in front of him, sliding his feet up next to it. Using the table as a foot rest, Alex continued to run his hand through Casey's hair.

Laughing, Alex nodded. "Yeah...Wonder where he got the bookworm idea from. Sure as hell ain't me." Moving his mate's hair back, to look down at his eyes, even though Casey wasn't blood to Josh and Chelsey, he was more a parent to the kids than Lynn ever was. This was his family, there wasn't a damn thing he wouldn't do for them. "He'll do good in school, that's for sure. He's smart like his know-it-all Papa." Alex grinned, teasing his mate.

"Hey now, its okay Case. He wasn't even in danger of falling. I just don't want him pushing to the next level." Once kids got away with one step, he knew things would be pushed to the second step really quick, Alex wasn't going to let Josh push that far without the practice.

When Alex said he wanted to meet Daj, he nodded and chuckled. Oh this would be amusing. Daj would be able to handle a meeting with Alex but a few hours with Josh and Chelsey? Hahaha... That would be another thing. "It's fine. I would have checked for curses if you didn't want to meet Daj yourself before leaving the kids with him." he said and chuckled.

he pinched Alex a bit and pouted. "Well, I told Josh that he could be anything he wanted. you know what he said? He wanted to be just like you with a dash of me and Jason in one package." he told Alex as he snuggled closer to the man and smiled. He smiled now and nodded. "A young Ravenclaw, both talent on a broom due to his father and intelligent in academics because of his papa." Casey said proudly.

He sighed and nodded. Casey knew Alex had everything under control. "I'll get to those charms later and make sure their working perfect before your next trip to the park. Just make sure he doesn't do it again?" he requested. If anything happened to Josh, Casey would skin Alex alive.

"That kid...he's something else Case. I wouldn't trade my son for the world, but he's...got a mind so out there I just don't understand him sometimes. I don't even know what to say to him sometimes, like...like he's being nicer to me because I don't know what's being said." Alex didn't think of himself as stupid, even Casey who he knew was behind book smart, he didn't see himself as stupid until he talked to Josh. Josh had a way of knowing more thing that you did, he didn't even need to say it out loud for people to know he did. "Like when I came and asked him the other day if he wanted to go out for the broom ride, Merlin Casey, he was good when we got there, but before that it was like...he was only going for my sake."

Alex turned to his mate, not really worried or disappointed, he was proud of Josh for being as smart as he was, but Alex just felt like he wasn't living up to the exception Josh had for him. Maybe he should have studied more in school, but he had more interest in magical creatures, Quidditch, and well, being outside. He didn't want to read if he didn't have to, he would rather be making a camping trip than a Hogsmeade trip when he was in school. "He's going to rule the school Casey, Merlin help anyone who gets in his way." Smiling, even though Josh was smart, Alex was going to make sure Josh knew how to defend himself in the least.

Giving his mate a smile, "Okay good, set it up to where he can jump off if my broom or myself is around though. I didn't mind that he jumped to me but in the future if he thinks he can jump off, like to the ground is where I have my issue." Alex was going to stay as close as he could, until Josh got the hang of the broom.

Casey listened and snuggled closer as Alex talked about Josh. He couldn't help but sigh. Alex did have a point and if Casey wasn't a Ravenclaw like Josh would soon be, Casey might have felt the same. "In some sense, I know how you feel. there are times when Josh points out something that I have overlooked. Sometimes he talks of things that he reads about and I don't know about. It like I'm being told off my my seniors three years over. Josh is smarter than me now. Imagine him him seven years." Casey told Alex before pulling away a bit and smiling at him.

"He is being considerate not only to you but to all of us. He knows how you feel because he is your son. He knows that you wish for him to open up and he is trying. Books are his comfort zone and he is trying to break away from that to please you and to prove to himself that he is your son. He thinks that if he doesn't do the things you like, Josh feels like he isn't yours. I can see it and he once talked about it to himself and I listened. He spoke that he feels like he wants to be just like you but he doesn't know how. He thinks you love Chelsey more than him but he doesn't say it." Casey said with a sad look on his face.

He nodded. "He will be just like you when you were there. But a hint of me and Jason in the mix." he told Alex and placed a kiss on his alpha's cheek. He sighed once more. "Well, as long as he doesn't do it when your not there, I think my heart will keep on beating inside my chest."

Looking against the wall, even though he understood it was just Josh, it wasn't something his eldest was doing on purpose to belittle, and Alex shouldn't be this offended by it. But, why was his 8 year old pitying him? That bothered him that Josh felt that he needed to, Alex loved his son more than life. "I don't know, it's just, I'm his dad. I shouldn't feel this stupid around him, I mean, Casey, everything he learned, if from you. You can say he learned from books, but their your books he's reading. And you don't make me feel like that."

Alex knew he should just get over it, this was Josh, he wasn't hurting anyone but being smart and it wasn't dangerous to read. Alex maybe should just pick up a book too sometimes, but with everything going on, he didn't think he'd have enough time to start and finish one and still retain all the memory of the book. "I know, I..yeah. I know." Alex just said, not really sure what to say, he wanted to be best dad he could, and yet Josh could probably out read him in about anything. Alex knew street smarts and he knew from experience, Josh knew from books.

Giving a small smile, "Case, he's excited. Not suicidal, I'm just overly protective I guess."

Casey knew it would happen sooner or later. "now why Josh reads? He wants to help you. He doesn't want to be a burden to you. He understands that before I came, you took care of him and Chelsey alone. He saw with his own eyes how hard it was for you and wants to help. He reads and learns from my books to find ways to not be a burden. His not making you feel stupid at all. And its not even pity which I know your thinking and feeling. He just doesn't know how to help you. He is eight and he doesn't know anything else aside from the information he reads in books. He is worried that if he did something wrong, you'd be burdened with his mistakes. He knows he doesn't know the things you do so he tried to bridge that gap by reading." Casey said and hoped that it would help. This was indeed hard even for him to have a son who was smarter than most and barely showed himself and when he spoke, he sounded more profound that most scholars four times his age.

Casey raised a brow. Excited? "Be it excitement or something else, I'm not having our son jumping off his broom no matter how close to the ground he is. What if he lands badly and damages a nerve? Oh Merlin, Alex. I'll worry now every time you both go to the park." Casey whined as he buried his face back on Alex's chest in thoughts of their son jumping off his broom in general.

"You know that makes me want to limit his time in books, he's eight Case. He can't be thinking like that. Why does everyone think that suddenly? Am I that bad?" Now that things were coming down, Alex didn't know what to do. Josh felt that he needed to take care of the family, Casey was keeping things from him for the sake that Alex couldn't be here emotionally, he just hoped Chelsey wouldn't be falling into this too. "I, fuck." Feeling worse for his son, for his mate, as an alpha and a father, Alex tried to do everything to make sure everyone as good and happy. He thought Josh liked to read, so he read, so Alex let him. He got him books from Casey's section of the office and let Josh borrow them, because he thought it was a good thing. Hearing this though, he didn't know if it really was a good idea anymore.

"I think I'm gonna start limiting what he's reading than Case, I...that's not something he needs to be thinking. It's bad enough you think that way, I don't want my son doing that same thing." Alex mumbled, looking around the room, as if too look anywhere but his mate, he wished the 24 hours were up now. He'd like to go for a run or something right now, because this talking business was not helping. Or maybe it was, the point was to help Casey, not himself.

"I'm not going to let anything bad happen to him." Alex said frankly, he'd make sure his eldest was good as new when they came back. Maybe a little dirty, but he'd be okay.

When Alex said that he would have to limit Josh's reading time, he chuckled. "Which would mean more time to spend with him. And just so you know, your not bad. Not at all. We just know that your already worried so much that we don't want to add anymore on your plate already. I don't want you too worry about mundane things like this and Josh thinks that too. So we help whenever we can. To make your burdens just a bit lighter." he said and smiled at Alex. "Fuck? Are you insinuating something, Mr. Andrews?" Casey teased. It was time for a happier topic.

He nodded and agreed. "I know you won't. Because you know that I will castrate you with a dull wooden spoon if Josh gets hurt." he whispered to Alex sweetly and placed a light and sweet kiss on his alpha's cheek for added threat.

"He's eight. He's bloody eight. You're an adult. I get your process of thought, he shouldn't be worried about any of this." Alex didn't know how to stress that, maybe he shouldn't be showing his family what was going on as much. Them hiding things like this, it wasn't helping Alex with anything, it was only stressing him out more. If Casey needed help on a job, than Alex needed to know so he could take the kids somewhere else. If Josh was worried about something, Alex needed to know so he could take care of it. What the hell was the point of him being here if they weren't going to let him do his job? As a father and a boyfriend, soon to be husband. "I don't want to talk about this anymore." Alex finally stated, and feeling like this, no, he didn't want to do anything inside the post that Casey was thinking.

Raising an eyebrow, he just stood up, gently sliding Casey off his body, he picked up his plate and empty can, moving to the kitchen. Alex put the plate in the sink and the can in the trash, the 24 hours wasn't up, but he didn't want to move to the next step his mate was pushing for either.

Casey sighed and nodded. "I know he is eight, Alex. But he is your son and his far more observant. So much like you. He thinks ahead and for the best of the situation. He needs you to talk to him and tell him everything will be already. All Josh wants, I think, is for youto tell him that he is doing good on his own and that everything will be fine. He seeks your approval the most because you don't talk to him as often as you talk to Chelsey." he told Alex before allowing his alpha to move away.

Casey hid his shock when Alex walked away from him. He couldn't believe it. Alex passed off sex. The situation must really be more heavier that even sex couldn't cure it. Casey sighed as he remained sitted on the couch and wait for Alex to return. He just curled into a ball and laid there, listening to Alex's footsteps, walking away from him. He wished it was the full moon already. Casey wondered if they both needed THAT kind of freedom.
