Surprising Lessons -Donovan-

[Sylvanna Beauclaire]

Sylvanna felt smug inside. She was able to do it in her first try? Well as much as she possibly could that is. Better than nothing really. The way she was being looked at, she had to remember that this young man was YOUNG to begin with. That Syl was maybe a decade or so older than him. She concentrated but inside, she reveled on the attention she was getting from him. She nodded to him and did as she was told. She allowed her body to relax a bit and think of her own plans... plans of cultivating Donovan to the path that her former lord wanted his son to take and the same path she had to pave for him. She felt so giddy as sparks began to come out of her hands once more. Strands of grey-ish like lights began to float out her fingers and palm.

Then for the heck of trying, Sylvanna raised her other hand and she concentrated on them both. Not too long after, BOTH her hands were sending out sparks and grey-ish light and with one smooth movement, she pointed at a wooden chair and the light from her fingers rushed out and the chair itself caught flames. Her whole emotion was flames of want. And that was what she gave out. Flames.

"Hmm." Donovan nodded at the flames a little surprised, that was pretty power than he had expected to come out the first time from the elder woman. Raising an eyebrow to Syl, he put out the fire, "That's...pretty good. Try not to destroy if you can help it. Explain to me the emotion behind that reaction." Wanting to understand if she was moving quickly or if this was just more accidental magic. If there was connect between the emotion and the magic, then Donovan would get some sort of clue of what he was working with.

Moving over the ashed chair, moving his fingers over the singed chair was impressive, "In a minute I'm going to ask you to try and lift this, I'm going to tell you how, now that we know you're capable of portraying magic without your wand."

Syl chuckled when the young lord had extinguished her flames. The chair was badly burned and it looked like it would fall on the floor with one touch. She smiled yet it may have been a smirk. No one could really tell anyway. He asked her to explain the emotion. "The want... I wanted it... the power to take form. The want to see it and make use of it. Does that help?" she asked back. She wasn't going to tell him outright that she was plotting to pave the way for the young lord to change the world as it had been planned before his rise to the throne of darkness.

She blinked for a few moments. Did she here him just right? He wanted her to LIFT the chair? She nodded and waited for the explanation. Burning something was easy. Levitating it was another thing. Sylvanna mentally sighed. This was going to be one LONG week of lessons. But in her mind, she smiled. She didn't mind at all.

Moving his hand over the chair, he mumbled the indication, the burnt chair began to levitate. The emotions he used now, he didn't even need to focus on it. He could do this and look at Syl without dropping the chair. His focus for the magic was on the chair, because that's where he was channeling it towards it. Dropping the chair, he moved towards Sylvanna before even heard the thud of the chair hitting the ground. "Okay, this isn't speechless magic. You need to remember that. You want something to happen the way you want it, you need to say the spell aloud."

Donovan wanted her to focus on the spell as well as her emotions. Speechless magic had to do with a clear mind, while wandless while requires emotional channeling. He moved behind her, out of her site, "If you have to yell the spell, do it. Scream it if you need to bring out the emotions in your body." That's how Donvoan started, being cursed over and over again, he would end up screaming out his spells in fear and want. He learned sooner than he didn't need to scream to feel it anymore. "Alright, levitate it."

She watched as he did it first. It looked so easy and it was something that didn't have to be thought over for. She mentally sighed. She had thought about it and knew that as a witch or wizard aged and had not been taught about wandless and non verbal magic, it would be harder to learn. Then Donovan spoke and she nodded. Alright, Syl had to do this.

She could feel him even if she couldn't see him. It was something she always managed to learn. To feel where Donovan was when needed. Sh took a deep breath before doing anything else. "Alright." she answered and faced the chair and thought about the levitating spell in her mind as she did the wand movements with her hand and pointed at the chair with her finger. The chair in question simply shook a but it didn't levitate at all. Her eye twitched a bit.

Narrowing his eyes, "If you aren't going to follow my instructions, I feel like this entire lesson is a waste of my time." Donovan moved back to the front of Syl, repeating the indication to make the chair levitate. Letting it once again fall to the ground after, "YOU MUST speak the words of the charm aloud, this is not speechless magic. If you want to accomplish anything you must do as I'm telling you." Speechless magic and wandless magic were both great skills, but they were skills mastered by using opposite parts of the mind and the energy of the magic.

"If you want to, I can teach you the way my father's circle taught me instead." Donovan didn't plan on it, his father's circle wasn't loyal, but they did have a wicked sense of bloodlust. Donovan was tortured for hours until he was forced to fight back or suffer.
