Keenan Von Rosenthal
School: Hogwarts
Age: 16
Birthday: December 25, 1982
Appearance: Keenan is an average height of 5’10”. He’s not especially tall, but not all that short either. He has a very aristocratic, sharply defined face with high cheekbones and a thin nose; looking every bit the European pureblood he is. He has full, dark lips, a prominent brow, and deepset eyes. Perhaps his loveliest feature is his hair, a long and silky blond that seems to glow in the sunlight. His eyes are a gorgeous chocolate brown, and he has his septum pierced — a move he made purely to upset his father. His body is almost anorexically thin, though not due to any efforts on Keenan’s part. He is handsome, androgynous, and lanky, the subject of many fantasies. His expression is always cold and distant, as is his demeanor. He gives off an intimidating, stuck up air. He typically dresses in high fashion; suits most of the time, but even when relaxing his clothes are always expensive and tailored to fit his body.
Likes: Keenan loves praise almost to a narcissistic level due to the beliefs his father instilled in him. He also loves intimacy, physical or emotional. He loves recognition and strives for it. He likes boys and girls both and is open about it — though he usually takes on a “use them and toss them” policy, he’s somewhat looking for the one to light up his life. Keenan loves debating and writing, and his secret desire is to become a journalist, something he keeps in the back of his mind. He also loves challenging himself. He’s grown to love politics too, and thrives in them.
Dislikes: Keenan hates mistakes or failure, from himself or others. He is unnecessarily harsh with people because of this. He also hates control; he has to have it, constantly, has to always be on the lookout for people and ulterior motives and any little screw up he makes, but at the same time he’s always treated like a puppet on strings, given no choice. He also hates what he considers shallow people, or those he considers stupid or unprepared. He dislikes the heat and, above all, hates high society. A large part of him also dislikes himself and who he’s become to deal with his family and the world around him.
Character History: Keenan was born into an old family where blood, status, power, and money matter more than anything. They’re very old fashioned, to the point where anything “new” or “mainstream” is considered ludicrous. He was raised very strictly, never to step a toe out of line, and has started rebelling in small ways since he was a child. He’s the youngest of five, with two older brothers and two older sisters, and is therefore considered “unnecessary”. He sees himself as useless because every role in the family is already filled. In his eyes, and as he’s been told by his family, he’s obsolete. He’s not close to any of his family, and in fact is the youngest by ten years. He feels isolated and has had very few friends growing up. As his father tells him, it’s not about friends, it’s about connections. He struggles with his identity on a constant basis; his father has told him who he is all his life, but he despises everything his father stands for. His mother has been a distant figure throughout his life, due to the belief in his family that women are inferior. Because of this, even hating his father’s beliefs, he’s unconsciously become a misogynist. Having had his entire life decided and controlled for him, he feels more comfortable around more dominant figures. He’s not outright submissive but he feels the desire to be deep inside. However that, along with many of his “weaker” feelings, are kept locked up where he can’t reach them. He’s currently in the middle of an identity crisis that will either break him to his father’s will completely or free him from his family forever.
Family History: Lester and Victoria’s marriage was set up from the day Victoria’s parents knew she was a girl. She always knew she was to marry him, and vica versa. Lester was ten when Victoria was born, and she was fourteen when they got married. She never finished a formal education, and neither did either of her daughters. She gave birth to her first son, Karson, when she was fifteen and to her oldest daughter, Evangeline, two years later. She then had twins, a boy and a girl, named Jedrek and Isabeau when she was twenty. At age thirty she had her last baby, the surprise, Keenan. Both Lester and Victoria come from old blood — Lester’s family migrated from Germany several generations back and have since managed to keep their fortunes and names in the utmost standing, and Victoria is a distant cousin four times removed of the infamous Lestrange brothers. They enforce strong policies and expectations on all of their children. Evangeline and Isabeau married into other families, prominent ones, to forge connections with the Von Rosenthal’s, while Karson and Jedrek were trained in politics and business to keep their family name in high esteem. During Voldemort’s reign they avoided him altogether as a neutral family, though they do look down on muggle borns.
Parents: Lester Von Rosenthal and Victoria Von Rosenthal nee Lestrange.
Siblings: Karon Von Rosenthal, Jedrek Von Rosenthal, Evangeline Von Rosenthal, Isabeau Von Rosenthal.
What House do you think fits your character the most? I think Slytherin fits Keenan the most, simply because of his secretive, haughty nature and his cynical, almost manipulative worldview.
RP Sample:’Shoulders back, hips straight, butt in, arms held tightly by your sides,’ Keenan reminded himself as he walked through the empty halls of Hogwarts. It was lunchtime and, though he knew he should be sitting with his house, chatting about the latest news within the ministry, he simply could not bring himself to do so today. He felt irrationally irritated and restless and wanted nothing more than to just punch a wall or hold his breath until he passed out, something. But he couldn’t. So instead he’d skipped his morning classes in favor of sitting just inside the Forbidden Forest, where he’d had a mild anxiety attack and punched the grass for almost half an hour. His fists had come out worse for wear, but a simple healing spell had fixed that. Now here he was, halfway through the day, back to normal; or as normal as Keenan would ever get. He still felt restless deep inside, along with a sense of misery, but his father would be writing tonight and he no longer had the choice to let himself be free. “It’s time to put on your big boy shoes and do what needs to be done,” he muttered with a slight scowl. If it weren’t so inappropriate he’d sigh.
