Jason sat at the table, waiting for Emma. They had decided to meet here for dinner after her Quidditch practice. He had arrived a bit early, much to his surprise. Usually, he was late or just barely on time, something that greatly pissed off a number of females he'd dealt with over the years. And he hadn't even hurried. He'd gone home after work, had taken a shower, had gotten dressed, and come here. 'Yeah, and you only changed clothes about thirty times', a voice inside his head chimed up. 'Just because I didn't know if it would be warm or cold tonight', he thought defensively. 'And why did you make sure to clear all those scattered clothes away before you left? Not like you usually care how messy your bedroom is', the voice continued. 'I just didn't want to have to clean up when coming home, and I would have had to do that to get into bed'. The voice laughed. 'You would have just pushed everything off and left it lying on the floor.' 'I'm trying to be neater', Jason huffed in his mind, angrily shutting the voice up. He looked down at what he was wearing. Faded blue jeans, work boots, a checkered shirt over a white t-shirt. He hoped it was okay. Then, he shrugged. He and Emma were friends, she wouldn't care what he was wearing. She was coming here to have dinner with a friend after practice. She'd probably want to know about Pip, she had said they's talk about it on Chelsey's birthday. But that was just a friend's interest in a former affair. Right?

When Jason invited to go out to eat, Emma really didn't expect this. She didn't expect that the ministry working, whom she assumed was an Auror with the work that he was allowed to talk about. Standing her room after the game, it worried her a little that she was pressed for time. It wasn't an average diner, it was a dress up head-to-toe type of place. Jason didn't seem like that kind of guy to her, licking her lips, Emma looked over her clothes trying to figure out something dressy, but not over the time since she couldn't do her hair and still meet Jason there in time. Finally after she pieced something together, Emma did a small due up to her hair, she was trying to make herself as good as she could with the little time.
Apperating there, she looked at her reflection once again in the window before she walked into the place telling the host whom she was meeting. Smiling as soon as she had seen Jason, Emma walked right over to him, "Well, someone out did themselves today. I'm sorry if I'm under dressed, got home from the practice later than I had planned." She put out her hands as if she was wearing something so casual and out of place, when really she was just teasing Jason.
"You look handsome." She sat down, looking over the male across from her, she smoothed out her dress trying to make herself look just a little bit neater. She was just grateful for even having the dress still, she hadn't worn anything like this in a long time.

When Emma appeared, Jason's mouth went dry. She looked absolutely stunning in her dress, showing off her gorgeous figure and those endless legs. She had obviously taken the kind of restaurant this was into consideration when dressing, while Jason had simply worn something he was comfortable in, not caring in the least whether it was appropriate for the place or not. Another thing not necessarily grown-up about him, he thought. Emma must think him to be totally immature. But immature friends were okay, right? Only it was getting harder and harder to pretend that he just wanted to be Emma's friend.
As she reached the table, Jason jumped up, hugging her awkwardly, then pulling out a chair for her. "Hi. You look incredible," he smiled as she settled down. He returned to his seat, annoyed at himself for being nervous. He didn't know where this was coming from. He was a player, he got the girls, had fun, then left them again, after a few weeks at the latest. He had never been nervous, there had been no reason. Sure, he got turned down every once in a while, but that didn't matter, there were enough females out there who'd be happy to have him. Why was Emma different?
"Thanks," he answered, blushing almost unnoticeably. For a minute, he just stared at her, taking in her beautiful face, the look in her eyes, just her. She was definitely something else than the girls he had met in the past. Finally, he pulled himself together and handed her a menu. "Do you know what you'd like to drink?" he asked, pretending that it was completely normal to doze off, staring at your friend during a casual dinner.

Giving a Jason a pat on the back when he hugged her, she bit her lip nervously, well this was interesting. It was a little amusing to her that Jason picked a place like this, but then didn't choose to dress up with it. Not saying anything about that though, it was nice to see Jason wasn't all about the crowed though, she didn't really dress up a lot but that was okay with her. Emma wasn't really into that all the time. "Well, I think I'm gonna take advantage of this place and order some wine, do you mind?. So, why this place. Don't take offense, it's obviously nice, I guess I didn't see this as your kind...of thing." Emma stated with a smile, if Jason like this kind of thing, Emma was fine with it, she'd just have to wear nicer clothes.
"So, I hear there's an opening spot in for cheerleaders for my team. Interested?" Emma asked with a smile, putting her hand on Jason's so that she knew she was only teasing him. When the waiter came over, she ordered a sweet wine, before turning to Jason, unsure if he was interested in getting a bottle with her or if he wanted some different. In which case she would just order a glass. She hadn't even looked at the menu yet, but she was more than sure this was out of her normal budget line.

Jason smiled at her. "Oh, it's not really my kind of thing, but they have the absolut best steak in all of London, and I happen to love steak." And I wanted to impress you, he thought to himself. "Anyway, every once in a while, I like coming here." He wondered if Emma thought he wasn't dressed the way he should be. But then, he didn't really care about doing what he should or shouldn't do. As a hitwizard, he earned enough to buy this place, and the people here knew that. If he chose to come in wearing boxer briefs and a beanie, they would still treat him with utmost respect and serve him their best. "Do you like this place, or would you rather have gone somewhere else?" Suddenly, he felt unsure if this was what Emma wanted. So far, he'd always gone for expensive if he wanted to impress a girl, and it had always worked. But maybe Emma didn't like that.
Jason laughed. "Yeah, I'll just come and try out, maybe they'll love my cheer so much that they want me on their team." He grinned. "Then I'd get to see you a lot." As soon as he said it, he wanted to bite his tongue. He wasn't interested in a girlfriend, was he? But Emma's hand on his made his stomach tingle in a way he was totally unfamiliar with. It felt really good, though. He wished she'd leave her hand there all night.
"Make that a bottle and two glasses", he told the waiter. "Do you know what you want to eat?" he asked Emma, glancing at the closed menu. "You know that this is my treat, right?"

Nodding with a look of acceptance, "Alright then, I'll be getting that then, but if it's no good, I get to blame you." Emma flipped her hand to point at him with a smile, her flirting was light but she did like Jason. He was rough, but really soft at the same time. She liked how he seemed to have two sides to him. Laughing full out when Jason said he'd be trying out for the team, shaking her head, "Oh Merlin, that'll be the day." Her laughter died down with the comment Jason made, she starred at him with a small smile, yes, they would see each other a lot more. "Why don't you just come to my games instead mm?"
Looking around, raising an eyebrow, "Your treat? Damn, if this is a treat, what's the main course like?" Emma shook her head putting the menu down on the table, running her fingers over the fine table cloth, "It's really nice, thank you." Emma said thinking about kissing Jason's cheek, for a second it was something she knew probably wouldn't be appreciated, but this wasn't a place for just friends. Emma wasn't that sheltered.
"So...Don't think I'm pushing, but this isn't the type of place you bring your friends. Just so I know where we are, what are you trying to do Jason?"

"Babe, if you don't like this steak, I'll make it up to you any way you want." Jason winked at her. Could she be flirting? "I guess I should stick to that, I seriously doubt they'd want me on their team. I'll just cheer you on from the top box, then." He smiled. He loved watching her play. Because she was a great athlete.
"Why don't you just find out?" he asked seductively with a matching smile on his lips when she mentioned the main course. He could quite imagine a main course for Emma. And it involved his whirlpool tub. And a long massage. And his bed. Screw just being friends, he definitely wanted more. Just exactly what? Emma was no one-night-stand nor a quick affair, he was pretty sure of that.
He blushed furiously. What was he trying to do? He was trying to impress Emma, trying to gauge what she liked, so he could please her. He was trying to...he didn't really know. "I...I....I don't really know." he began, his self-assurance evaporated. "I don't know what I'm trying to do. All I know is that I took you to meet my family, which is what is most important to me, and I know that I really want to impress you and that I can't stop thinking and dreaming about you and I know that I've never felt this way about anyone before and I know that I really wanted you to keep your hand on mine all night because it felt so good and I didn't want to let go of you when we hugged and I know that I'm feeling totally different about you than about any other woman I've met before and...and...and..." he trailed off, sure that he'd made a complete idiot of himself and Emma must think him to be a total jerk.

Biting the corner of her lip in thought, Emma didn't know what she was going to do with Jason, but she did like him. She did like his family, they were a little more open than she was about things, but they were nice people. They accepted things easily, well, at least they didn't ask too many questions when Jason turned up with Emma instead of Pip. Thinking about that little fact, it was strange to her, thinking about how Jason had some been with a guy before her, it wasn't that she was against it, but she did want to know if she was just going to be an experiment. With Jason going into ramble mode, it made her smile, a lot. "Hey hey hey, don't get worked up. It's okay." Emma said when Jason started to look for more answers, Emma just wanted to know if Jason wanted to be her fling or if he wanted to be more than that.
"You don't need to make any choices right now, I just wanted to know what you thought. Don't stress okay?" Emma attempted to assure her date, her hand on his bicep, she smiled at him. "Why don't we get through the night, and talk about it later okay? Get to know each other a little more?" Giving an Jason an opening to figure what they both wanted without actually saying so, Emma rubbed her hand over Jason's arm, before pulling it back to Jason's hand, taking a mental note about the comment he made about holding her hand all night, she figured it would just be better for her date's nerves if she didn't say anything about it.
Licking her lips, Emma thought about her next words before saying them aloud, "So..your family. They seemed a little..uhm, worried about me not being that Pip guy. Is everything okay there?" Emma didn't know how to word talking about the ex, but she didn't know how to talk about the family accepting Pip then Emma being there instead either. Jason's family seemed open, but she didn't want to be caught in the middle making issues.

Emma's big smile when he went on and on confirmed that she thought he was a blithering idiot. Oh well. Maybe there was a microscopic chance that she liked idiots. Finally, he smiled, relaxing a little. "Getting to know each other sounds like a smart thing to do." But he felt exposed. He had told her more of his feelings than he'd ever told a woman before, and she had said nothing about what she wanted, except that getting to know each other better. Did that mean she wasn't feeling much or wasn't impressed or that she'd just keep him around until she met someone better? Damn, this was exactly why he didn't want to fall for a woman, this was confusing and irritating. Meeting a girl, flattering her, getting her into bed, then kicking her out again after a while was much easier. But the thought of not having Emma in his life made him feel queasy. Until now, most women had complained that he didn't talk about his feelings, wanting him to open up more. Now, he finally had, and again, it didn't seem to be right. He sighed. Luckily, the waiter arrived, letting Jason try the wine, then filling two glasses and setting the bottle on the table. He stayed long enough for them to order their steaks, then they were alone again. At least she still wanted to touch him. Jason noticed her hand on his again, and the tingle returned.
"Well. Pip. He...there wasn't anything between us, really. Maybe there could have been in the future. Alex and Casey liked him. I think Alex loved the idea of me being with a man as well, he kind of pushed me and Pip together. But it wasn't what I wanted, and when Pip began making issues of not wanting me to spend time with Alex, Casey and the kids, I ended it. Pip wanted me to choose between him and my family, and I did. I couldn't imagine a future with anyone who can't accept my family." He ran his free hand through his hair. "Anyway, Pip was one of two guys I've been with, and it's just not my thing. I tried it, probably the same way Alex tried the female-male thing, but it's definitely not mine." He paused for a moment. "I know that Alex doesn't care if I'm with a man or a woman, he just cares about getting along with that person and he bugs me about settling down. I've just never really felt that I wanted to settle down. But I think that is changing now."
