Despite that Benjamin’s schedule was already hectic, he could not avoid his job. These were one of the things that had to be done. While Benjamin was quite professional in keeping his dark business separate from the students, he could not do much about his mood. It was pretty obvious that the Potions Master was often quite moody and stressed. Perhaps becoming the head of the Slytherin house was just a little too much. Training the young Death Eaters, teaching the students, checking their work, helping those with trouble, doing his mission and of course prepairing the potions that were needed for the missions. It all took a lot of time and that left the man with no time to relax. Every night he just got a few hours of sleep. All this was to see on his face that looked slightly elder than what the man really was. Well his time in Azkaban and his monthly periods also were to blame for this.
As for the preparation of the class he had separated the groups in to three levels. On the board was written:
Year 1 t/m 3: Swelling Solution
Year: 4& 5: Invigoration Draught
Year 6&7: Shrinking Solution
If the students brought their books they could be able to find the brewing instructions in it. Benjamin used his wand to open the dungeon door of the class room so students could enter.
Artemis Sharp wasn't too fond of potions. In fact, every time she made an attempt to actually brew one it failed horribly, resulting in a rather large explosion of snow and clouds. The Hufflepuff could only imagine what would happen in today's class. Professor Burke probably thought of get as a complete nuisance. She could understand that, which was why she walked into the class with her head down, her blue eyes focused on the ground. "Hello Professor," she greeted quietly as she took a seat. She looked up briefly to see what she'd be brewing today. Artemis slumped in her seat. "I need someone to help me with this class or else I'm going to fail," she mumbled miserably. Where she was usually bright and positive, this class just made her depressed. She wished she could do better. Maybe she'd owl Xavier some time and ask him for help. Hey brother was always helping her out and the thought of him prevented her from tearing up and crying. She was sure professor Burke wouldn't have appreciated that either.
Alex entered the classroom quietly, taking a seat near the back. He didn't hate potions - he didn't love them either though. He could follow instructions well enough but if anyone ever expected him to create something of his own he'd likely be screwed. He understood the theory well enough and had no problem deciphering how the ingredients worked together but he just didn't have that special touch needed to make something truly wonderful. He crossed his legs under the desk as he glanced first at the professor and then at the board. Shrinking solution... he hummed in the back of his throat. He thought he had that one memorized but there was no point in being careless. Getting out his textbook he flipped through it, skimming the pages, until he came across it. This should be easy, he thought in satisfaction.
Octavius entered the room, more than a little bit excited, and immediately took a seat near the front. He loved this class! There were so many new things to learn! It was difficult to contain his excitement at times but he often did so if only to avoid any extra attention. He sunk down into his seat, book laid carefully out in front of him, as he looked to the professor for instructions, eyes shining with anticipation. He'd made Swelling Draught before and knew that he could do it on his own. But knowing him... I hope I don't screw this uphe thought despondently.
A smile was on Hanna's face as she made her way down to the dungeons and her potions class. It was fascinating for her to watch the way the potion changed during the process of being made, but Hanna wasn't really good at it as the theory caused her headache. She could do what the book said and add the ingredients accordingly, but she never quite understood what happened there. Every time they had to write an essay she was more than glad if someone helped her with it. Still she was looking forward to the class as it was all still new to her, the whole concept of magic and a bit more chipper than some of her class mates usually did, she entered the class room and chose her seat in the front row. She got out her cauldron and book and opened at the paige with the recipe for the swelling solution. She was eager to start.
Potions has never been Vanessa's strongest subject, though she did make a valiant effort in attempting to earn high marks and not make herself seem completely incompetent at potion making. She had much to catch up on still, having missed all of last year, and even though she really did want to do well in her courses because it would make her feel terrible if she didn't, the motivation and drive that she'd previously had to study hard and ace tests was no longer there. How did a person go back to a place filled with people that were formerly the antagonists, or at least related to them? She knew it was wrong to lump them all together, just because they were related, but she did and it wasn't something she was fighting to correct.
Entering the classroom with her book and potions ingredients, she immediately took a seat at a table near the door. After glancing at the board, she sighed, opened her book and began to set up her supplies. Luckily, they had also covered the Invigoration Draught in her last school year. It wasn't an easy potion to make - none of them were for her - but at least she knew it.
Adrian walked into Potions like he owned the place. He felt very confident in this particular class because he'd always had a natural knack for brewing. He glanced around the room with a sneer on his face and realized he didn't care for any of the current occupants. He made his way to an empty table and set his things beside his chair while he waited. He glanced at the board with a furrowed brow. A shrinking solution? That should be easy enough. He leaned his elbows on the table before him and twiddled his thumbs as he waited quietly.
Jagger didn't care for going to class, and he didn't care that it was his OWL year, and he could care less about whether he was going to be lectured to by his parents about his poor study habits. The only reason he still went to class was because he would never be able to move out of the house if he didn't graduate from Hogwarts. He was smart enough to do well in all of his classes, but he tended to slack off so that he could pass with only the minimum requirements. It was more fun that way, and left time for a social life.
When he came into the potions classroom, he noticed many empty seats. Apparently people weren't ready to be social today. And then his eyes landed on Vanessa and a smile curled across his lips. She was looking particularly ravishing today, and he wouldn't mind annoying her with his smooth quips and inappropriate flirting. He sat beside her at the table by the door and nudged her with his elbow.
"Hello, gorgeous," he smirked. "I think today is finally the day you beg to make out with me. Don't worry, honey. I'll say yes."

Connor rushed to class, he wasn't going to be anymore behind than he already was! Missing half of the year, well, more than half, worried him and got him more than behind than he was comfortable with! He wasn't comfortable with being behind at all. When he got to class, he really was just going to take his normal seat in the back of the class, until he spotted his sister. Connor went to sit with her, when he heard what the boy next to her said. Hell no. Connor didn't care who this guy was, he narrowed his eyes, and moved his body between the two seats, more than willing to start a scene if the guy didn't back off.
"I think you're miss place, she's not into guys with big egos." Connor glared at Jagger, his hand already on his wand. Nessa would be the one to see it though, his wand being on her side. Nessa was a good girl, and no asshole was going to walk over her. As soon as the word 'ego' left his mouth he though of Almir again, the boy had been all over his mind recently. "I think you should take a seat else where." Connor said without even a single stutter, he was shy normally, but his little sister was his to protect. He'd make sure no one pushed her around. Connor got lower, leaning on the desk, and whispered, "Otherwise the only thing you'll be making out with is a stinging curse."
Jagger resisted the urge to roll his eyes, though he really hated when people like him felt like they owned the world, just because they had a younger sibling they needed to "protect." He had recognized him as Vanessa's brother, though he had not met the guy officially. Jagger had a little sister, so he understood somewhat. But he would never make someone move away from Anna just because they talked to her. But he was not willing to start a fight right here in potions class. He was a lover, not a fighter. Though, he would fight if he had to.
He stood and held up his hands in surrender, though he didn't plan on surrendering completely. If anything, this little warning against flirting with Vanessa just spurred Jagger on further. He even smiled a little. "Hey, mate...relax, it was just words. I'll leave you to sit with your lovely sister."
He turned to Vanessa and sighed, "Don't cry, love. I'll be right over there." Then he took her hand in his and pressed his lips to the back of it, keeping his eyes on hers. When he straightened, he smiled and winked. She really was very pretty...it was almost a shame to give in to her jackass brother's demands. But he walked away from her, as he promised he would, and took a seat at the table just across the aisle. "Let me know if you want to hold hands!" He whispered in a loud voice to her.
