April 4th 1995 Flourish and Blotts
Alex really had no idea what he was going to do, he didn't have Lynn to help him out. The kids with Jason right now, so he could run down and grab a few things. Alex decided he was going to get a few baby books to help him out, because with no mother in for his 3 year old daughter, he needed something to give him a little bit of a run down. With Josh only 5 years old, it was just has hard running around and helping him do everything as it was trying to potty train his youngest. Sitting down in one of the chairs with a baby book around potty training in one hand, Alex didn't even look at the book, as he closed his eyes as soon as his back hit the cushioned chair.
He wasn't sure how long his eyes were closed, but he opened them the second he heard footsteps by him, he didn't want to look like a bum in a chair. He was exhausted, but he wasn't going to fall asleep in a chair for Merlin's sake. Looking up to the owner of the footsteps, the man himself had to have been taller than Alex, but he was gorgeous. Alex blinked, starring at the taller man for a second. His scent was pulling Alex in. Who was he? Did it matter?

Casey had been so busy lately that today, he finally got a chance to do what he liked. He was walking through the aisles of Flourish and Blotts that day. He wanted to buy a few books to add to his library that he hadn't read before. He greeted the clerk who knew him well since he came twice every week to ask if anything was knew. When he got confirmation that there were new charms and transfiguration books near the back, Casey smiled and thanked the clerk.
He made his way and as he reached the back, he saw a slightly shorter man sitting on the chair. He looked really tired which made Casey wonder if he'd fall off his chair if he fell asleep. Casey reached the shelves that had the books he was told and he turned and scanned the ones he was looking for. But something made him turn and look at the man again. And when he did, he saw the other was staring at him. "Is something wrong?" Casey asked, a bit concerned than he ought to be.

When the taller man look over to him, he couldn't help but grin at him. Was something wrong? Alex wasn't really sure quiet yet, all he knew was he had to get to know to his man. "No, I'm sorry. It's just...I'm tired as hell, and you're gorgeous as hell. I probably couldn't tell you how long I've been starring." Alex laughed leaning back into the chair, letting out a sigh more to relax than from stress, it was good to sit down in silence for a few moments. "I'm Alex, you...going for extra schooling?" Alex said looking at the book choices the taller man was looking at, maybe he was a teacher.
"I'm kidding, sorry man." Alex said with a smile, he really didn't want to come off as a creep even though he had meant his previous words as a joke.

Casey was a bit surprise at the bluntness of the man that he couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "It shows your really tired and all. And thank you. It's not every day I meet someone who compliments me out of the blue." Casey said as he rubbed the back of his head a bit embarrassed as he was called 'gorgeous' by and equally, if not, more captivating man. Then the man introduced himself. Alex. The man looked like an 'Alex'. "I'm Casey and no. I just enjoy reading. I'm still planning if I want to get a Masters in something. But no definite plans as of the moment." Casey said as he shifted the books he had in his arms.
The apology made Casey laugh. "Are you apologizing for saying you were tired? Or for saying that I looked nice? I don't look nice then?" Casey asked him with a raised brow.

Laughing again, he shook his head standing up to the other man, Casey. He was taller than Alex, he wasn't sure what to think about that at the moment, but it didn't make the man any less good looking than what he was when Alex was seated. "No I apologize for my lack of filter this afternoon. You're beautiful, so no need to worry about that." Alex knew he was coming on way too strong, but really he didn't think he'd ever see this guy again. He wanted to, so maybe he should back off a little. Looking down at the books again, he nodded, "A Masters in transfiguration? You want to teach it then?" Alex wondered aloud, he thought it was cute that that the other man was easily embarrassed about the compliment.
"Must be pretty smart then...and I can't even get my 3 year old to use the toilet most of the time." Alex laughed looking at the book in his own hands, he was old enough that having kids wasn't a huge shock, and since the other man was taller, he assumed he was Alex's age or older.

Casey's theory of the man being shorter than him was correct. He then chuckled when the man explained why he apologized. Casey couldn't help but blush when he was called beautiful. No one has ever told him that. Very few people made him blush but here was this man, Alex, making him blush this much in the span of five minutes... or less. "T-thanks..." Casey managed to say as he knew he was already tongue tied. Alex was a mystery and Casey always loved mysteries.
When Alex spoke of Transfiguration, Casey shook his head. "I don't know. Not sure. And its either Charms or Transfigurations really." Casey said and then was surprised when Alex mentioned that he had a three year old. This young man had a kid already? "Well, have you ever thought of using a kiddy toilet for your child?" he asked. That's how he'd do it if it was Casey with a kid.

Feeling a little bit of pride when he saw Casey blushing, it was nice to know he could bring out a reaction like that. Alex smiled nicely, "Is that a blush I'm seeing? Or is just my lack of sleep playing tricks on me?" Grinning he looked up at Casey, leaning against the book shelf. He wanted to say more, he wanted to keep talking to this man, wanted to figure out a way to get to know him a little. But they had just met, how did he ask the other man out without sounding like a creep he had just met? "I think Charms would be a pretty neat field, they're always useful, I mean, transfiguration is nice, but when are you going to turn animals into dishware or vise versa?"
Alex didn't mean to make fun of Casey's study, he was only stating his thoughts hoping to get a conversation going with the other man. When Casey asking about a training potty, Alex had never even thought of that. Chelsey hated the toilet since the one time Alex left her there for a small second and she fell in. "Uhm..no..I hadn't thought of that." Alex said somewhat embarrassed, "Guess that why these author's make money huh?" Alex held up his book, with a laugh. He knew what he was picking up before he went home.

When Alex pointed out his blush, Casey tried his best to kill it down. "I uhm... I think its a it too hot here, don't you think?" Casey lied, knowing well he'd fail for sure. He was a bad liar and everyone who would hear him try would know instantly that he was. Grabbing on the new topic with silent relief, he nodded. "Charms indeed makes more sense than Transfiguration. To me that is." he said as he rubbed his head in embarrassment.
Casey then chuckled, "Well, try getting your kid a small kiddy one. Then when he/she needs to go, you show her as you pretend to use the regular one as your kid use the kiddy one. That way, your child will feel safe and know what to do on their own when your not around." Casey explained simply since he had a few cousins who he had watched over before. When Alex laughed, Casey couldn't help but feel a shiver run down his spine. "Y-you... Have a nice laugh..." He said also as a whisper then he blushed as he looked away. Why did he just say that?

Shrugging with a smile, no Alex didn't think it was hot in here, but he would allow that to slip by if Casey wanted that. Looking down at the books again, he was pretty much average when it came to magic, he was never one to study more than he needed and while he got good grades in school, he got simply because he remembered until the test came. After not being in school for so long, Alex's memories of his school teachings were getting less and less, "I think if you learned them both, you'd be a pretty smart guy. Some of us basic people just use the basic spells." Alex grinned, giving Casey more credit, even it was playful.
Raising an eyebrow, he couldn't help but be amused by the other man who was coaching him how to potty train his daughter. "You have kids then?" It didn't take much to offend Alex, and normally this much advice without Alex asking for it would have offended him. Looking at Casey though, he could see that the man was really just all knowledge and learning, so he didn't see a reason to take offense this time. It was obvious he was just listing off facts, which mostly amused Alex. "I mean, you seem like an expert with all this information."
Taken back by the bluntness of the shy man, he couldn't even attempt to wipe the smile away. "Well, thank you. You have a nice smile Casey." Looking around the bookshop, he pointed to one of the tables, "You like to sit down and talk some?" Alex would be damned if he let this boy just walk out, he wanted to get to know him.

Casey was silently thankful that Alex didn't comment on his lie. He grabbed on to the life line that was being offered. "Basic people?" Casey chuckled. "I don't think there are people like that. I know that many would want to make their lives just a bit better. I learn this to make my life and those I know live more... comfortably. That's all." Casey explained as he turned back to the shelf and pulled out the Charms books that he had asked for at the counter.
The question made Casey smiled sadly (only a little) before shaking his head. "No, I do not. I have young cousins though from both sides of my parents. Not only am I an only child, I highly doubt I'll be able to have children." Casey told him, leaving out the 'because I'm gay and gay couples don't get pregnant' part.
Casey was a bit mortified that Alex heard. It was too low for any person to hear. How did he? Casey blushed hard and looked away. "Y-your welcome.... A-a-and thank you." Casey spoke out shyly. Casey was trying to come up with a logical explanation as to how Alex was messing Casey up so easily. The he was offered a sit. He slowly nodded and walked over to the chairs that he knew well. "So... uhm... If you don't mind... why were you so tired?" he asked the added, "You can choose not to answer if you want. No worries." It worried him a bit but Casey felt calm. Alex was calming for some odd reason.
