Shaking his head, he starred at Draco, "I wouldn't send her after you to kill you, you'd be dead in my eyes as soon as you left here. I'd moron my brother and move on, Bellatrix though..You're relationship will only be a hindrance if I allowed her to stay." Donovan wouldn't hurt his brother nor would he be responsible for his being harmed. It was obvious to anyone who looked at the brothers that Donovan was having a difficulty keeping his emotions under control. Trying to appear as if this would be nothing more than inconvenience, when it was something he couldn't accept. "You being afraid only proves my point."
Looking over his brother, he nodded slowly as if he was having to accept once again that Draco was staying. Like he couldn't process it. "Good. Okay. But tell me about this vampire. If she's been around for so long, why are you being changed now?" With a clearer head, more relieved that Draco was going to walk away, he wanted to know why.

Draco narrowed his eyes. "So you'll send Bellatrix away?" He couldn't even begin to understand his brother. And now, life was being difficult again, forcing Draco to choose between his brother and Bella. How could he? And why would his brother demand such a choice of him? Couldn't he see how much better it would be to have followers who trusted each other, would work well together, much better than the sorry motley crew he had assembled. Draco sighed. Obviously, Donovan didn't want to see how much keeping Bellatrix around could profit him and the other death eaters.
He shrugged. "Before we had to go into hiding, I never thought about being a vampire, I had a lot in my life and plans for my future. After the war, I was just stuck inside, with nothing to do. So I asked Maria if she would change me, it seemed like a good idea. She said she would think about it, and after a while, she agreed."

Rolling his eyes, "No. If you left, I would send Bellatrix after you to join you." Speaking slowly as if Draco couldn't understand him speaking normally, he's only said the same thing more than once. "I don't like her, but she's here. I let her stay so far. If you left, your relationship would cause issues. Do you understand how that would be an issue?" Donovan looked at his little brother, a little annoyed that he was having to reexplain everything.
"Look, she...I don't know okay. I just don't like her around. Like her presence is going to set someone off or something. She's not a stable person Draco, that worries me a little with what I can trust her with. The Dark Lord trusted her with everything..and he's dead. Explain that to me." He didn't entrust most of the people his father had, he didn't see them as helpful the first time around, so why would they be now?
Blinking a few times, he still didn't really understand why Draco even remotely considered being a vampire. "You asked her to? You, you asked her. The same little brother I have that thinks all of it was an abomination. The same little brother who had no issue with those pieces of disgrace dying, not even a year ago. You asked her to turn you into a vampire." Donovan repeated not understanding even in the slightest, on top of the fact like Lucius bloody Malfoy let a vampire live in his household! And why was this kept from Donovan for so long?! "She agreed. Draco, you've been nothing but blunt about your dislike towards them, and she's fucking sunshine and rainbows about you being her little baby vampire?! Do you even hear the shit you are saying?! Where does that even make sense to you?!" Donovan went right back to yelling, this was so random and unreal that Donovan had no other emotion to get out other than anger. What the hell was going on with everyone!?

Draco slowly nodded. "I guess." he said.
"You're right, she is insane. But it's one of her good points. She is willing to go to much greater lengths than others, out of loyalty and because she has nothing to lose." Draco gaped at Donovan. "You seriously blame her for your father's death? She died before he did. Well, she didn't die, but she was incapacitated enough that everyone thought she was dead. Mother retrieved her body, and it took her four days to heal enough to wake. Your father always wanted to be the one to kill Potter, he wouldn't let anyone else do it. Bellatrix offered again and again, he claimed Potter for himself." Draco paused, wondering if he should confess what he knew, should confess who had betrayed the Dark Lord in the battle. "If you're looking for someone to blame...I know who lied to your father, gave him false security." Draco said hesitantly.
"Yes, I asked her to. I see now that it wasn't a good idea, but I was desperate for something to change, desperate to get out of that house. And changing seemed like a way to get that."

Lowering his eyebrows in curiosity, "What are you talking about? Nearly everyone lied Draco." This didn't sound like good news at all, Donovan really couldn't afford anymore bad news though. Let anymore surprises. "And I don't just blame her, I blame most of the people in the inner circle, your father included. Snape, but that traitor is dead anyway. As for the rest, as you can see, there are clearly not around." Donovan didn't trust Bellatrix, but he didn't trust many people right now either, they all were at fault for his father's downfall. Donovan wasn't allowed to part-take, so here he was trying to avenge him instead.
"Draco, just think about it. What could you even be other than a piece of trophy? A vampire who turned the purest of bloods, the vampire who turned a Malfoy. No offense Draco, but what other value do you have? Does she know how close you are to me? Maybe to headquarters? Draco think about it, you have no more magical property than an average wizard, you have connections. But what I'm not understanding, is why the vampire even wants that, they normally stay to the side of these things." Donovan started mumbling the last sentence or so to himself, more thinking aloud than to his brother. "If you crave change though, go somewhere. Travel. Take precautions, don't just walk around looking like Draco Malfoy, but go around. Drink polyjuice, that's a huge change. Do you follow me or have I lost you?" Donovan would rather Draco walk around human in control of himself than a creature after blood lust, no matter what he looked like.

"I...I know nearly everybody lied. But...your father had thought he'd killed Potter in the forest. He sent one to check if Harry was dead. Bellatrix wanted to go, but he wouldn't let her. He sent someone else. And was told that Potter was dead." Draco looked decidedly uncomfortable, He knew this had been the turning point of the battle, had very likely been the death if Lord Voldemort.
He pondered Donovan's words. He'd never thought of why Maria had agreed to turn him, and what his brother was saying made perfect sense. He sighed. His life would not get better if he went through with the change. "I'm your follower, Donovan." he said with convition.

Starring for a second, he remembered that. He remembered the stories he was told of what happened that night, the memories people had shown him. Donovan just starred at Draco for a second, trying to piece together was it was Draco was telling him, before his jaw dropped. "Mother. She..did that. She said he was dead." Donovan remembered that part well, he was proud of her that day. She got to see the boy dead, but really, how could he have been? You can't bring the dead back to life.
His own mother left him fatherless, helping his little brother change into a vampire, and she's in hiding. "That..Why..Bloody hell. Wow." Donovan felt drained, so much for that. So much for protection. For family. She took his father away from him. She almost let his brother be taken too. She lied to him.
"Are you mother's too?" Donovan didn't even look at Draco when he asked, looking up towards the sky, as if the answers would be there. As if something would explain why everything was turning out the way it was.

"No." Draco said simply. "I'm not." Draco sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I...she didn't even tell me herself, Potter did. I know she thought she was doing that to save me, but...it sounded so wrong." He sighed again. "How could she do that? Betray your father like that. She must have felt something for him, at some point. She loves you. How could she sacrifice your father like that?" Draco's voice trembled with rage. "How can she even dare to speak to you?" he demanded. Until now, he had never spoken to anyone of his anger at his mother.
"Bellatrix...Mother told me how she reacted when she woke up. She was so angry. Angry at Mother for lying, angry at Mother for saving her, but not him. Bellatrix didn't want to live in world without him. She...she had given up. So Mother told her about you. Bellatrix went ballistic. She was the only one in the Inner Circle who didn't know about you, her own sister had never told her. It must have been horrible for her. And then, she left, to give you what she can't give your father anymore." Draco looked down, at his hands. They shook. His entire body did. This was so emotional for him, his hatred for his mother and his love for his aunt colliding, Donovan's obvious mistrust of Bellatrix getting to him as well.
"I don't know why she wasn't told, Mother said I'd have to ask Bella, but I felt I'd be opening old wounds."

Donovan bit his lips together, "She's no mother of mine. She's as dead to me as dead can be." He didn't even want to think about it anymore, his mother, his own mother was the reason the Dark Lord had fallen. "One chance Draco, I mean, the first time she gets even a step close to turning her back on me, I mean even a bloody passing thought, she's gone..I'll give her the benefit of the doubt."Because I officially have nothing to loose. Angry, hurt, and betrayed, Donovan just shook his head, as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing. But he did know that, he knew his mother was the one who declared Potter dead.
Sick of being lied to himself, Donovan didn't see harm in telling his brother now. "She wasn't the only one who didn't know. The Dark Lord ordered everyone to keep me a secret, he trained me. Your father accepted me. And I, well, learned to be his apprentice. As you can see how well I'm doing." No one was giving him even a slight iota of light that they gave the once feared Dark Lord. "He didn't want anyone to come after me, in trying to train me...or kill me. I was purely his own, so I learned what he wanted me to learn. Moth-Narcissa, didn't want you in danger. So I was only a friend until you were older, by then, she couldn't stop me from telling you....You remember that conversation right?"
Looking to his little brother, growing up, Donovan had no one around his age other than Draco. Other thing was, Donovan knew that Draco was his brother his entire life. He saw his mother with child at the age of 3, saw an infant being passed around the house at the age of 4, he knew of Draco. Draco never knew of him. So when Donovan finally told him that they were really related instead of the closest of friends, it was just as much a relief to Donovan as it was a worry for his mother.

Draco smiled as he remembered. "I do. I thought it was so incredibly cool that you were my brother. I had often pretended that you were my brother, so it was cool to have that come true." As a child, he had yearned for a brother, and Donovan had always been there. So in Draco's imagination, the older boy whom he admired was his older brother. His mother had always been angry when Draco pretended. He had understood that only much, much later in life.
"I know others were lied to as well. But Bellatrix was family. And...she and your father shared...let's just say a special bond." Which was what his mother had called it. Draco had of course asked her a lot of questions about Donovan and the fact that they didn't have the same father.
