Brotherhood Promises :Jason:

[Alex Dean Andrews]

Nursing a beer, Alex looked around the Leaky after he had sent Jason the owl. He wanted to talk to Jason about the things that had been going on lately, he wasn't really sure what to do about everything with family. Jason was 100% human, and he was sure that Jason would want to stay that way, so that gave the older brother mixed feelings about it. How could he turn the world for magical creatures when his little brother was a human? Letting out a breath, he took a second drink of the chilled liquid. The ex-Slytherin had hoped the alcohol would have helped, but it didn't. Not really. Well, it helped with himself, but not with his nerves. Alex hadn't really noticed how more often he had been falling back on a shot or a thing of whiskey lately. 

Humming a small tune to himself, he kept his eyes and ears open to when his younger brother would show up. Alex had kissed his mate goodbye this morning, telling him he was finally going to clue Jason in with all of his plans. They were honest with each other, sure they bullied and teased each other, but they were family. Alex and Jason had been best friends growing up, and even now, Alex knew without a doubt in his mind that he could fall back on his little brother. It was something Alex rarely did unless it was babysitting, he didn't want to over load Jason with his issues, but that came with being the older brother. Even as an adult, Alex still saw his little brother. 

Whom, Alex remembered was into a girl lately. That made Alex wonder a little, what was up with that? What happened to Pip?

"Hey." Jason dropped into a chair across from Alex, tossing his jacket carelessly on another chair.
"Sorry I'm late, I couldn't leave work on time." He grimaced. "There's been talk of some activity, and we were busy trying to sort that out, but I really don't want to get into that."
He turned toward the bar. "Could I have a beer?" he called.

His eyes settled on his brother. The owl he had received had been more than vague, but it hadn't sounded like a 'Let's meet for a beer after work and hang out' kind of thing he had been asked to join. Jason had noticed that his brother had seemed stressed lately, he wondered if he was going to hear the reason for that today.
Even though he always acted like a carefree young man, not bothered with things like settling down, having a lasting realtionship and such, but enjoyed his freedom to do what and whom he liked, he deeply admired his older brother for the responsibility he had taken on as a very young man, raising the kids by himself. Jason was glad Alex had found Casey to carry the load and be happy with him. Jason loved the kids, he loved babysitting for them, and got along really well with Casey.
And even if he never said it in those exact words, he felt concerned when he suspected his older brother was worried about something, wishing he could help him somehow. But that was difficult with Alex always shielding him. Sometimes Jason thought his older brother had missed the part where Jason had grown up. Well...maybe not. While he was no longer a minor, he was unconcerned with just about everything, except for enjoiying his freedom. He had a small flat that had enough room for him, and him alone, he had a job that didn't promise he would return to his flat after a day at work, he had no relationship to speak of and turned away from responsibility whenever possible. No wonder Alex didn't treat him like a grown up. Jason shrugged, pushing those thoughts away. He was young, he didn't have to give a damn. Maybe someday, someone would come along who made him wish for a bigger place with a garden for the kids and waking up next to that person every morning, and a job with regular work hours where the biggest risk was a paper cut. But that person was far, far away. 'Yeah, off at quidditch practice,' a small voice whispered in his mind. Jason chose to ignore it. That voice had been bothering him since he first met Emma, so he was quite good at not hearung it.

"So, what's up?" he asked Alex, taking a sip of his beer which had just arrived.

Staring at Jason for a second when he spoke about there being activity, he knew that was a bad place to start. Considering Alex was not only apart of the Death Eaters, but he was double crossing them for the creature rebellion. "Actually, that's what I wanted to talk to you about." Learning some of the hitman qualities from his little brother, that had been rough to go around, but Jason had been a big help. "As you know about what I am, you know what Casey is. You know what I plan for the kids later on. I won't ask you to let me do that to you, so don't take that as what I'm leading this too. Have you heard anything about the creature rebellion yet?" Alex asked quietly, he had heard whispers around him and the Death Eaters, and after the incident with Bellatrix, Alex made sure his kids were somewhere safe or with Casey when they weren't with him.

Looking over his younger brother, he didn't want to fight with him, and he doubted it would even come to that. They normally found a happy medium in their lifestyles. Alex being a werewolf had been hard in the beginning, but now, it was just apart of Alex that he had embraced. Casey too. He would have to talk to that little blonde prat very soon, he's the reason Bellatrix took his little girl. He would be dealing with him long before he invaded the Riddle territory. "You can pretty much guess where I'm going with this. Casey and the kids aren't even home right now, they're else where because of..." Alex leaned in a little close to inform his brother, "Bellatrix LaStange...She took Chelsey. I don't know how, but somehow she did. I got here back, but I can't let that happen again." His voice was dead flat and the whisper was angry.

"Don't try and get too inolvoed okay? I'm trying to keep the kids out of this, Casey is helping me. I'll tell you want you need to know, but you, as Jason, need to help me okay? I need an insider in the ministry. I'm taking out the Death Eaters, I can't have the ministry butting in. If they do..well, all hell will break loose." The part Ex-Slytherin leaves out is how they plan to take over the ministry very very soon. "Will you help me out? Jay, I need you real bad in this. You know I wouldn't ask you if I had another option too. I'll keep you in the loop, you just..need to break your little keeper code or whatever about the 'confidential' shit." Alex needed Jason informed for his own safety, but for the fact that as soon as Jason found out that Alex was keeping things from him, that would cause a whole mess of issues for the brothers.

No wonder Alex didn't treat him like a grown up. Jason shrugged, pushing those thoughts away. He was young, he didn't have to give a damn. Maybe someday, someone would come along who made him wish for a bigger place with a garden for the kids and waking up next to that person every morning, and a job with regular work hours where the biggest risk was a paper cut. But that person was far, far away. 'Yeah, off at quidditch practice,' a small voice whispered in his mind. Jason chose to ignore it. That voice had been bothering him since he first met Emma, so he was quite good at not hearung it.
Raising an eyebrow, he shook his head, "You know other than that, I'm kinda curious about what happen with you and Pip. And what's up with this new girl? You can't be jumping back into the field again, you're not exactly 19 anymore Jay." While his little brother was still young, he wasn't a teen anymore, Alex was pretty much married with Casey, even if it wasn't official yet. He did propose at least.

When Alex mentioned a creature rebellion, Jason's eyebrows shot up. "No, definitely not a creature rebellion. Just some talk about death eater activity and a new lord taking control of what's left of the old ranks and recruiting new members. This is the first I hear of a creature rebellion." He looked questioningly at his brother.

As Alex continued, Jason listened with growing apprehension. "Bellatrix Lestrange is dead, she died in the battle, I know a lot of guys who saw it happen." he said dubiously. He HAD the word of several very trustworthy aurors, but his brother wasn't crazy, and he wouldn't lie about something like this. "And what do you mean, that bitch took Chelsey? What did she do to our baby? Did you kill her for it?" He hesitated. "Are you sure she's all human?"

Jason sighed. "Aley, I'm a hitwizard, if there's trouble, I'm at the front, even before the toughest aurors come in. You know that. If there really is a new dark lord, we're the ones they'll send to get him, if there is trouble with creatures, we're the ones to face the worst of them. There's no way I can stay out if there's trouble."
Jason's forhead crinkled. "If you plan to take up the death eaters, and the ministry plans to do the same, why can't you just work together? I know about werewolves and wizards, of course, but that situation will only get better if someone starts working together." He paused.
"You mentioned a rebellion of the creatures. Taking up the death eaters is no rebellion, it would be a favor to the ministry. And what do you need an insider for if the ministry is just supposed to stay out of your way?"
He studied his brother closely.
"What are you NOT saying?" he finally asked.

"Well. Pip." Jason raked his hand through his hair, the confidence he had shown when talking about his job and the rebellion evaporated in an instant.
"It turned kind of ugly, really. He had this theory that staying in touch with werewolves and such wasn't all that good, him working for the hospital. He thought it might make some people wonder about him. So he gave me the choice of staying with him or staying in contact with you and Casey."
He sighed.
"Wasn't a choice, really. You are family, and he...he was just someone I had fun with. And I couldn't be with anyone who doesn't accept my family."
He laughed.
"Oh, come on, there's no one out there for me. I have a job that's far too dangerous to consider having a serious relationship, and I'm just not interested in that. It's great for you and Case and hundreds of others, but I just want to have fun." He grinned.
"And, like I said, Emma is a friend. She's great fun, and I get free entry to just about any Quidditch game." His stomach tingled when he said Emma's name, and and image of her beautiful face and body flashed through his mind. If Emma wanted him to leave the hitwizards...he rigorously shut off that trail of thought.

"I have no bloody idea, I know I gashed into the bitch's shoulder. Merlin, if Chelsey hadn't been there...I should have gone for her neck." Alex's fury was so maxed out, there was no words. He had been so scared for his little girl's life, he had saw nothing else but her. "I lost my wand though, but I got this." Alex pulled out Bellatrix's wand, setting it on the bar. No one else would know what it was, unless you were an auror or actually worked with the crimes that Bellatrix had committed. Proof the crazed witch wasn't dead. "No, I have something else I need to do before I let her die. What she did...god, I want to see that little...I want her scared." Alex just needed to get a hold of Draco.

Flicking his hard in the forehead, like when they were kids. "Call me that again, tough guy." Alex half threatened, not really minding too much. Listening to his brother about his job, it wasn't anything new, but this time, it was more amusing that it should have been. "Trust me, Bellatrix is only threat you have. This new Lord, he's confused and twenty-two, he has no idea how to run the Death Eaters. And they're all sitting around waiting for him. I have it taken care of, I just need you to help me. They..aren't a threat. I already have taken one for my team, and the others are new or confused."

Pursing his lips, "Jason, I don't want to work together with them. You know how two-faced they get, they'd cross me as soon as I let my guard down. I'm asking for your help, and your help alone, if you can't do it, then fine. I'll figure something else out." Alex was going to ask his brother to help when the fight came, but it would just be Jason, not the entire ministry's work. No aurors. No government. Just Alex's crew and Jason.

"I need to make sure that they don't get more wing of what the Death Eaters are doing, I know that they are paranoid with everything just freshly have fallen, but I can't afford them to but in." Everything Alex was saying was true, just not telling Jason that Alex didn't plan on there being the ministry his brother knows so well to continue. "I need an insider to make sure I know where the ministry is, if they get involved, it will hurt more then help. There are Death Eaters inside the ministry, there always will be. As soon as the ministry gets warning, so do they." Alex attempted to reexplain, not once telling his brother something untrue. Wanting to tell his little brother his plans but knowing that Jason wouldn't support them, it made it all the more hard. "What I'm not saying, is if you had let me turn you when I turned Casey, you would understand more of this." Alex finalized, not wanting to be mean, but it was the truth. "Sorry Jay, but this...is just one of the things you'd have to be one of to understand."

Growling, the little punk. Alex flirted with him, sure, but it was just fun and games. But he had actually tried to keep Jason from him? "Talk about possessive boyfriends...shit. I mean I get protective with Casey, but I think if I actually tried to come between Casey and people, he'd have no issues handing that back to me. Bloody reporter." Alex smiled taking a drink of his beer thinking about his mate. "I'd be sorry if you hadn't brought that pretty athlete around. Well, not sorry, but I'd think about it more." Alex was more than okay that Pip was gone if that was how it was going to be.

"I was twenty-one when I had Josh, Jason. I was with you most of our childhood. I pretty much married Lynn until she walked out and now, I'm engaged with Case. I'm all for you getting with someone and sticking. Less for me to think about when your on the field fighting bad guys. Trust me...they give you a reason to make sure you come home." Alex thought about not coming home that one night, one night out at the bar, and it throw so many hardships in his and Casey's life it was a mess. He'll regret that day till he's dead. "Plus...If you got settled, like actually settled, especially with that one girl...You'd be going to bed with her, every night. Just think about that for a second. Don't have to pay for drinks, don't have to save the day, just come home..and boom. Pretty babe is already there." Alex started cracking up, finally starting to relax around Jason.

Jason looked grimly at his brother. "At least you hurt her. But from what I've heard of her, Bellatrix doesn't scare. She's got nothing to lose, and she doesn't care about staying alive. That's what makes her so dangerous." He reached for the wand. "Let me see that."
Almost reverentially, he picked up the strange, claw-like wand, turned it in all directions, and ran his fingers over it. Suddenly, there was a spark and Jason dropped the wand.
"Ouch!" He rubbed his finger. "I think it doesn't like me."

"You know, Bellatrix alone is more of a threat than we's bargained for. She was almost as dangerous as Voldemort, maybe more in some aspects. She's totally insane and will stop at nothing. I bet she didn't even cry out when you hurt her. I've heard the wildest stories about her. Mind you, there are only a few who remain alive to tell them."

He sighed. "I know. It's just my wishful thinking, I guess. Me wanting a better world in which we can all live together, you know? Especially when you turn Josh and Chelsey." Jason wasn't all that convinced that getting turned was the right thing for the kids, but that was something he wouldn't butt in on.

"Okay, I'll try to deflect all suspicions about death eater activity and I'll keep you posted on what I find out." He sighed again. "I can understand that this is something I can't understand. And I trust you on this, even though it sounds strange to me."

"She really is pretty, isn't she." A huge grin split Jason's face when talking about Emma.
He turned serious again. "I know you spent most of your life being responsible and taking care of someone, and I admire you for it."
He started laughing when Alex went on about Emma always being there.
"Yeah, and I'd come home to frilly curtains, a pink house, and decorative pillows, and after the first few fun weeks, she'd have a headache 24/7. And anyway, I doubt she's interested in me. Like I said, we're friends and it's fine that way. Maybe I do friendship better than relationship."
Deep down, Jason doubted that Emma was the pink, frilly curtains, and decorative pillows kind of girl, though. And he hoped she'd not be the headache kind. And waking up next to her every day...there were definitely worse ways to live.

"I know what she's scared of and I know what I'm going to do with it too. After everything, this bitch will be lucky that I let her have any unbroken bones. She took Chelsey, that...there's nothing that can counter that. Nothing." Alex was already planning on how to get to Draco, he knew that Donovan and Draco were already informed of his plans, Bellatrix would have already said something. Or maybe she hadn't and was just preparing for it on her own. Either way, Alex is going to make sure to get a hold of him. He didn't care if he was turned or killed, but he wasn't going to continue on his life without a major reality check. Alex had no issue helping him out.

Shrugging, he hadn't had any bad reactions to the wand, so he wasn't sure. Maybe it was warded against those without the mark. "Maybe it's warded. She's insane, but she's not stupid." Alex really didn't know much about the study of wands, but he knew they were sensitive about who they allowed to handle them. They connected with their wizard. Alex didn't have a connect with the wand, he was half tempted to snap the piece of wood, burn it and send Bellatrix the ashes. But without his own wand, he didn't want the same thing to happen to his, which he was sure was in Bellatrix's possession.

Clicking his tongue, Alex thought about it. Bellatrix was dangerous, she was unpredictable, and really the only Alex knew for sure, was she cared about the cause. She cared about Draco and Donovan, but other than that, Alex really had no solid thing to get her with. Thinking about it, Alex got an idea. He knew how to lure Draco and Donovan out without even going to the Riddle house. Donovan was loosing his control fast and strong, everyone could see how it was stressing him out. How he was angered easily and took on the challenges before thinking about them. It made the werewolf think about if the boy had had a chance to go to Hogwarts, he would have been a Gryffindor.

"The more unstable she is, the less thought-out she'll be. I know what I can do to help bring it up a little." Alex reassured his brother, he had a plan, if nothing else, he knew that he would at least lure Donovan, the younger brother with the way their relationship was, he couldn't see Draco not coming to his brother's aid. Frowning a little, looking over Jason, he put a comforting hand on his younger brother's shoulder. "No, I get you. It would be better, but you know they wouldn't allow something like that. If they have power, there will never be equal treatment. You know I'd turn you too, just like I did Casey." Alex looked over his brother, he saw his family as pack. Sometimes Alex thought more like an animal than a human, sometimes his inner wolf took over his head, even when he was human. Side-effects of not taking the wolfsbane.

Not taking the wolfsbane was by choice, Alex could have had the potion brewed or even bought it, but he didn't want it. He didn't want to feel like his wolf form was being restrained. He loved what he was, he embraced the sensitives it gave him. Scent, eyes, hearing and taste. He wanted his family to feel like he did, strong. Casey was more prepared and sensitive to danger than when he was human, with Jason being in the field he was in, Alex knew it would help his little brother be better. "I've offered it a hundred times, but you know I wouldn't force it." Alex didn't either, he offered, he wanted to, but he wouldn't force this type of thing onto his brother. "Then you'd probably be able to understand this more." Alex would just need Jason to go through the transformation once, just once, then he would be able to understand why creatures deserved to be in power.

Snorting, then it turned into full laughter. "Sex cures headaches. My brainy soon to be wife told me that one." Alex winked at his brother, taking another sip of his beer. Casey was a book of facts with legs, a gorgeous book with legs, Alex let his mind wander for only a moment before he came back to earth. Not even remotely embarrassed about his dazing out, Alex moved on to the next part of the conversation, amused look on his face and all. "I think if this girl was as much as a Diva you described, you guys wouldn't be...friends." It was said in a duh tone to tease, but Alex did mean it, he didn't see his brother hooking up with some prissy, broke a nail, it's creme not eggshell type of witch. If he ever did though.."If you find a girl like that, you bring her around me, oh man Jacey, you'll never hear the end of that one. I remember that one girl though, from Hogwarts you followed around...uhm, fuck, what's her name? Slythrin girl, year above you. She had her nose so far in the air, that I'm surprised her head didn't just fall right off."

Jason looked sternly at his brother. "Just be careful when dealing with Bellatrix, even if it's indirectly. Even if she isn't thought-out, she is dangerous. I don't want you ending up like the Longbottoms or dead." He thought he might just try and find Bellatrix himself, before Alex did something stupid and endangered himself.

He sighed. They were back to that topic. Always landed there, somehow. "I know you'd change me, and I still don't want to be changed. I'll support you however I can, but it's not something I want for myself. If I change my mind, I'll tell you. Besides, if you turned me, who'd take the kids on full moon?"


He chuckled. "It does, really? Maybe Casey should publish that somewhere, I'm sure a large number of men would love to know. But an equally large number of women might hate Casey for it." He grinned, wondering if Emma might ever get headaches from training and might like help curing them. Tearing his thoughts away from that course, he grinned. "Nah, I doubt she's a diva. Doesn't seem to be, and anyway, I doubt a diva would play Quidditch like that. She really rocks, it's wicked what she does with that broomstick." Jason mused. He loved Quidditch, and Emma was a great athlete.

"You know, if I should ever find a girl like that, she'd never guess I had a brother. She wouldn't stay for more than one night, anyway."

He groaned, hiding his face in his hands. "You'll never forget that, will you? Her name was Samantha, and I was only 14. It's okay to fall for awful girls at 14, I was still learning" he tried to defend himself. "Anyway, she never noticed me. No, wait. One time, she ran into me when going into the library because she was talking to friends and not looking where she was going, and she actually blamed me for it. Called me a clumsy child."

Shrugging, Alex was not worried about dying, so he was worried about getting to that witch. He was worried about making her pay for what she did. Alex was never going to be able to get over that, how could he? Draco, so much for him joining their side, unless Maria took him in and never let him out her site, ever, then Alex would even then, have no choice to except the little rat. He had been completely fine, a little concerned a new vampire blood hunger, but other than that, he was all for Draco joining them. Who the hell was he to do this? He double crossed them, but really, Alex should have known he would.

No matter how many times he question Maria, asked if her if she was 100% sure that Draco would be able to turn away from his brother. She was sure. Look at what their trust in did! "I'll be careful Jason, but I can't let her go free for this." Alex said freely, there so stopping him from going after her, but he had one person to deal with before he got to her.

"You damn well know I could figure something out with the kids, like that one kid Casey likes so much...He watched the kids before. Chelsey gave him nothing but attitude, but he's not that bad." Alex didn't mind Daj, he was just another kid looking for some extra money, him and Josh debated a lot, but that was fun for Josh, so Alex let it go. Chelsey, well, the little girl just demanded attention all the time, even for Alex, that was hard to do for her. "It's one day out the year, and you'd be able to do your job better with it. I know you'll tell me, but I really wish you'd at least think about instead of shooting it down every time I said something." Alex said seriously, to him being a wolf, was something he just wished he could turn into when he wished. He could do it more if he wanted, relieve himself more then what he does now. The tiger form, it helps, but it's not nearly as therapeutic as after a full moon and his body has been used up by the wolf.

Grinning, Alex was laughing loudly, it really didn't take much to get Alex from serious to playful. It was two sides of one coin, Alex was just mainly all jokes and teasing anyway. "According to him, it's suppose-of-ly common knowledge. Let me tell you, if Casey gets whiny becomes of headaches, I got the cure. I couldn't let my mate suffer." Alex said as if it was fully for Casey's sake, Alex's face clearly showed his amusement, he almost wished his mate was with him right now. The older man could just picture how he knew Casey would be blushing and smacking him like he had offended him. Alex knew Casey liked the batter just as much as he did.

"If you ever found a girl like that, she'd be my best friend Jay. I'd talk to all the time, I'd make sure you were with us though, so don't worry." Mocking his little brother it wasn't going to go away with age, it was just going to be them. Jason was all grown up now, even if Alex doesn't see that all the time, he knows it. "Ha, no. I will never forget it. You were in love with this girl like she walked on water bro, me and Lynn talked about forcing the girl to talk to you a few times. Then you just moved on to another girl, we just let you be after that. Well, kinda. We still had a lot of jokes to make." Alex didn't have an issue talking about his ex-girlfriend anymore, he was angry with her, but the topic itself didn't upset him anymore. "But hey, I was with Lynn for..fuck, forever. That says enough about me." Alex said thinking about the two kids he's had with her, who she never comes to see. "Chelsey was pretty heartbroken after the party you know? Because she never showed up."

"Of course you can't. Just...don't underestimate her."

Jason sighed. "I know the kids aren't an argument. It's...I have thought about it, long and hard, even if that's something you think is beyond me. But it's something I don't want for myself right now."
He laughed. "One day out of the year? Last time I checked, the full moon happened once a month, but if you're sure..."
Jason turned serious again.
"I think the way you handle being a werewolf is great, and it's cool that you can embrace your wolf self so fully. But even if you and Case are happy with it doesn't mean it would be my path in life." Who knew if Emma would want a werewolf. Not that it mattered, he quickly thought, angry at himself for even thinking about what she might like in the first place.

Jason grinned as well. "Yeah, it'd be cruel if you didn't help Casey get rid of that headache. I mean, what kind of mate would you be if you let him suffer? I'll have to remember it any chick ever complains of a headache. Then I'll be the perfect gentleman and cure her. Maybe several times, to make sure it's really gone."

He laughed again. "You'd never let me hear the end of it. You're not letting me hear the end of Samantha as it is, and that was half my life ago."

Jason leaned back in his chair, drinking his beer. "You and Lynn were always teasing me like crazy, I wonder why any girl at school even bothered with me, you were making fun of me all the time, they must have thought I was an idiot." But even with them teasing him, he'd had his fair share of girls while at shool. Just remembering the broom closet and boat house got several names and memories into his head. He had been a player then, just like now.

He put a hand on his brother's shoulder. "You couldn't have known Lynn would turn out to be such a bitch. She was great most of the time. Hell, I envied you a lot back then, and I admired and admire you for being such a wonderful dad to Josh and Chelsey."

Almost choking on his beer, Jason set the glass on the table. "She didn't show? God, what kind of mother is she? She's not even worth being called a mother."he said angrily.
